im so sorry to hear that!
i've got some bad news, my lesson was canceled yesterday because Ziggy got kicked (they think) while out in the pasture. Had to make an emergency trip to Virginia Tech with Ziggy. Found him in the field unable to walk. Had to literally drive the trailer in the field to get him. They say he has either fractured his femur or his pelvis and lacerated an artery in the process so his entire hip, left hind and some of his abdomen is filled with fluid. They are... keeping him for the week with an epidural catheter in place for powerful pain meds and anti-inflammatories and are also running IV fluids. If the swelling will go down they will try to get clearer Xrays to determine what is broken, if not he will have a bone scan at the end of the week. If his femur is fractured it is most likely he will have to be put down. If it is a pelvic fracture, he will be in stall confinement for at least 6mos and have to be cross-tied so that he cannot lie down. There is the chance he could develop laminitis in the good leg and still have to be put down. If he survives all of the above, he may never be ridden again or he may be good as new. they said his blood levels were good yesterday and if they are still good today then that means he isn't hemorraging.....we hope! so please keep ziggy in you're prayers!
