Hi Trigger!
That's too bad that you're not on any teams! Well, you don't need to be on a team to enjoy your horse, that's for sure. This is the first time I've ever joined a team myself! The way that the IEA works is that you don't know who you're going to ride until you get to the show. The horse that you're going to show lives at the showgrounds that you go to, so you have no idea who the horse is or what he's like. You don't get to warm-up the horse before you show, but if you get there early enough, you can watch someone else warm-up the horse. It's a little dissapointing that I don't get to ride Pixie in them because she's the one I want people to see with because she's my heart and soul, but at the same time, it's exciting to ride a horse you don't know and prove that by doing so, you're a true equestrian. Literally, when you get to the showgrounds, the horse is chosen randomly (there are groups of horses for different levels of riding skills). Yesterday was my birthday, and I got my first ever show helmet and crop. Now I am completely ready for the IEA show season! The team is at another barn, so I have not ridden any of the horses there either. My first lesson is in two days, and I'm so excited!

P.S. There are IEA teams for hunter/jumpers, another for western, and another for saddle seat (I'm in a hunter team). Not all barns hold an IEA team. I only know of one in my area, and I'm joining this year. There are IEA teams in Canada as well as USA, so if it's something you want to look into, then search IEA equestrian! The IEA can take you to the top of your game, you can get into regionals and nationals. It's very hard to get to regionals let alone nationals, but the fact that you can get to that point, is exhilorating!
P.P.S. Congrats on going to your first show & good luck!

Well, left a vote!
