Thank You
Just dropping by to say thanks to all who voted for Sassy to get HOTD! She let out a whinny when I told her this morning(probably because she knew I had treats in my hand...but it was still adorable)

I may train Sassy nearly every day but I can honestly say she has taught me so much more about horses and myself! I guess you could say I had an 'I got this' attitude when she was offered to me but I had no idea what I was getting myself into! She has taught me patience and compassion like no other horse has. Take the patience you need when training a horse that can see and multiply that by 20 when training a blind equine! And since there isn't really any handbooks or training tools to go by I was literally 'the blind leading the blind'...we just took it one day at a time and the smallest of things meant the most. Like the first time I got her to trot on a lunge or take a few steps backwards when I asked. I'm not sure I would be that trusting if I could not see. I talked to a friend's trainer once that laughed at me when I told her my horse was blind and I wanted to ride her. She said 'a horse that can't see is worthless' but really I think she meant PRICELESS! All the blindness did was help us bond faster and that bond and trust is priceless to me. I am her seeing-eye human now! =]

Left a thank you vote! Hope all is well, have an awesome day!
