sorry for such a long blog!! please read all :)

hello everyone!

i hope everyone had a wonderful weekend :) i had an AMAZING lesson on zig yesterday. we started our warm up like we usually do: walk around the barn twice both directions, then straight to cantering, then back to posting trot without stirrups.gotta love no-stirrup-november! zig did really well but he was really fresh with his cantering. i didn't even have to give him any leg, i barely finished "kissing" before he shot off cantering lol he was like a rocket! and he kept trying to throw lead changes but i've gotten to where i can feel it right before he's about to throw one, so then i know to squeeze and kiss to send him forward. so after that we went out to the big field behind the barn and walked over a vertical to let him get used to it and he was being super awkward and just plowing through it! he's usually fine walking over them (it's only an 18 inch vertical) but he was practically tripping and falling over it. so jess (my trainer) told me to trot him over it, and then he kept stopping right before it and stumbling over it still!! i was even squeezing and clucking and we would come up to the jump at a good speed but he would just stop right before the jump despite my squeezing. then jess started to get really irritated with him not listening so she told me to just go straight to cantering over it (which is my first time cantering over verticals!!) but then he was fine and was approaching the jumps at the perfect speed. so we cantered over that, then i asked for a lead change and then cantered over a cross rail right after that. he was sooooo good! then i took him back to his stall and untacked him and brushed him down. he was being so sweet while i was brushing him <3 he kept looking back at me and nuzzling my cheek hahah it was adorable :) anyways here's a thank you vote in return for all the support you all have given in ziggy's HOTM run! you all are amazing! please keep supporting him if you can. thank you!!!!

love,
sierra and the herd
