Hi, left a vote. I had a little adventure last night. A couple of my friends hauled down to the fairgrounds to ride. I went down to watch them ride. There was two other gals down there with four horses. One of the gals told me I could ride one of her horses if I wanted too. Well I only have about half an hour, but I could ride for a few minutes. So she tells me to ride the little gray guy, he doesn't buck. Ok, so I go put his bridle on, tighten the cinch and get on. She then tells me he is a gaming horse, that is all she does with him, so keep a tight rein on him. I am thinking, crap, I may be in trouble. So off we go at a walk, tight rein, which by the way, I don't like, I always ride with a lose rein. I ask him to trot, he does, very nice slow trot. Then we got shot out of a cannon! He just took off! I didn't ask him too, he just took off!. He is getting faster, and faster, I ask him to slow down, he doesn't. I ask him to stop, he doesn't, I did everything I know how to stop this horse, and he isn't stopping! I am now thinking I am going to die, or this is really going to hurt! Then, I thought, one rein stop, does he know a one rein stop? Guess we are going to find out! SO I put slack in the right rein, and start to pull his head around slowly, finally he starts to slow down, and finally we stop! My heart was beating so fast, and I had to take a breath! We just stood there for a few minutes, collecting myself, then I asked him to walk off. We walked the rest of the ride. Every time he tried to go faster, I said no, walk. Those reins were so tight, no slack in them whatsoever! I just hate that. Any way, I survived, stayed on, never thought about bailing. Just wanted to stop him while staying on. LOL! I have never gamed before, and had never rode a gaming horse. I knew I should have listened to my gut feeling that said get off, after she told me he was a gaming horse! LOL!
