Hi, left a vote. Had a great ride on Logan yesterday! He has been shaking his head with the bit since I got him, the faster you go, the worse it gets! I thought it was because he needed his teeth floated. Well it has been 6 wks. since he got his teeth floated. Still shaking his head, and he started to tilt his head to the right yesterday, so I am thinking, he doesn't like the bit I am using. Great, now what. Diane, she owns the barn I board at had yesterday off and had come down to talk to me. I asked her about Logan's bit. She watched him so she could understand what I was talking about. She agreed that the bit I am using isn't to his liking. Not causing him any pain, just didn't like it. Diane said she has lots of bits to try and hackamores too. She said, "lets try a hackamore on him, it seems to me he just doesn't like having a bit in his mouth". Ok, lets do it. So, she let me borrow a hackamore, rode Logan in it. The head shaking and tilting went away. He totally relaxed. Wow! SO, I guess from now on, I am riding Logan in a hackamore. Bless his heart, he was trying to tell me this whole time, good thing he is a patient horse! So love this horse!
