I had a busy day today (Thursday). First, me and Cheri rode Sharon's two new horses to the farrier. We had to go on some roads and they did amazing. Its really cool how different every single horse is.
The gray one (its actually a really really light palomino) is an about 10 year old mare. She pinned Sharon against the wall and tried to kick her when she tightened the girth, but once Sharon let her know she couldn't do that, she was fine. I rode her on the way to the farrier, and Cheri rode the black one. She (the palomino) is really really fat and she has short legs, so her stride is short and choppy and she walks slow and her canter is really short and choppy-I don't like her canter :)
The black one is a reg. 15 yo TWH and is tall and thin :) Like night and day!! She has a long, swinging stride, which was much better then the palomino's, to me anyway. She paces awesome, but doesn't canter hardly at all-just galloped- they'll have to work on that.

Then, I played guitar w/ Cheri and Sharon, then went home for about half an hour, then went back to Sharon and watched her join up (Monty Roberts) with the palomino mare-the new one. It only took about 25 mins b4 she was following, but then a little bit after that to fine-tune her following, turning and stopping, on the other side as well.

After that, I rode w/ my new friend Alta, and 4 other people, just for about an hour cause it was only like 20* out. :) I didn't get too cold, though. I rode a black Halflinger/Standerbred gelding, Lightening, bareback. He has a huge trot and a beautiful slow canter!! His mane is thicker than a regular horse and its on both sides, too!! He's Flicka's sire :) But he's gelded now.

We got warmed up in the house by playing Dutch Blitz (a card game-SO fun-:) then I went home around 5:30.

Tomorrow I'm babysitting ALL day (well, from like 8:30-5:00 :() so I might not get a chance to use my new handy stick......

Hope you had a horsey, warm day!!
