Hi Rocky, here's a vote for ya. So after 8 days H.T. got to come home! It was a lot of work, the first 30 days I had to moniter his temp twice a day and scrub the incission with a special mixture they gave me. But he had to, and they meant had to, be hand walked every day for at least 20 minutes. That meant nice days and rainy days. Of course I DID NOT have my indoor then! He had some ruff days, had my vet out, found out he was rejecting the master sutures and they were coming through the skin, the were the internal ones. My vet showed me how to remove just little pieces at a time. Of course this meant laying under this 15.3 fire ball, but he knew we were helping and never flinched. The second 30 days consisted of tune out. Now mind you, when you build pastures, they are all good sizes. We had to make a tempory one 30 X 40 so he could not run at all. And the frist 10 days he had to be given a little ace to keep him calm. After those 30 days it was lungeing for 15 to 20 minutes to build him up for show season. Now the hand walking was in Nov, the turn out in Dec and the lungeing in Jan. With the snow and ice, is was plow the area and stock pile the snow, if needed I would re=plow and cover the ice with 6 inches of snow. I lost a lot of weight that winter! Be we got through it. Feb I kept up with the lungeing and March too. then April I started to ride and he was very good, I think he knew he had a second chance on life this time around! We went onto have a wonderful show season that summer. there is life after colic surgery!
Today Indy had a day at the spa. It was very cold and windy, windchill of high teens, I think spring made a u-turn and is hanging out in south america! Tomorrow I'm going to do another tack and clothing sale. Only now I find out it's outside in a parking lot. Temps for the day, mid to high 30's with winds 15 -25 mph and gusts to 35, should be a ton of fun! NOT. And I prepayed for my spot! I'm not losing my money on it! Darn! Marion and the blondies.
