Hi Pony Jack, here's a vote for ya. So Angel H.T. got through the summer with a couple of little hick-ups with the colic once in a while. Went onto some really good showing. Had another bout with it in the summer of 2004 and had to be rushed back to the equine hospital. We left the farm at 1 am for the hospital. About 20 minutes outside the hospital, now mind you, it's now almost 3 am and of course I'm the only one on the highway and of course doing about 10 MPH at least over the speed limit. I spot a car on the side of the road, opposite side of us. I said to Kate, my friend that was making the trip with me, OH OH, it's a cop. She's like naw, like yes! He's pulling out and making a turn across the grass median and coming after us. What are you going to do, I'm gonna keep going, my horse is more important to me. He wants me, he'll have to work to catch me. Lights on and he's getting closer, about a few miles later, and he was following us with the lights on, but never catching up, I wasn't speeding that much that he couldn't catch us. Seems he called ahead to the hospital, asked if the had an emergency coming in, they said yes, a colic case from north jersey, he backed off , shut his lights off and dissappeared! After getting to the hospital land getting H.T. admitted and checked on, while they were working on him, I told them what happened. They said they got the call from the police, told them they were expecting a colic case! They told me, now the police will call ahead to ask if they have one on emergency run, seems that a couple of years ago, a cop pulled over a trailer, they stopped and while trying to explain this was a true emergency, the horse died while the cop was writting a ticket and busting them on driving fast. They sued the township for the cost of the show horse. Anyhow, H.T. stayed for a day and a half, and was okay. Had to be on IV for 12 hours and kept a watchful eye on him. Right back to showing three weeks later. He was fine!
Spent today at a tack sale. I sold $135 worth of older stuff that I don't use anymore. Not to bad, but it was outside and it was cold and windy out. I'm trying to defrost now! LOL! Going tomorrow to ride Paige. Marion and the blondies.
