Hi Stewy, here's a vote for ya. The time, Oct 21st 2011 Friday night. I got home from work at 7 pm like normal. Changed my cloths and went to feed H.T., Indy and Bullseye. I opened the barn door and H.T. was not looking through his stallion bars and nickering to me. OMG H.T. whats wrong, he got up and screamed at the top of his lungs. He was soak-n-wet with sweat, yet he was ice cold! Called Larry immediately. Took H.T. to the indoor and started to walk him. Larry got here in about 25 minutes. It wasn't lookin good. No gut sounds at all. When Larry went to give an IV shot of Banamine the jugular vein was hard to find. That should have been a clue to us. I was on the phone with the insurance company and they gave permission to transport to the equine hospital. This was about 2 hours after trying to help him. Me dear friend Eileen was here to make the 2 hours trip with me. Possible exploratory surgery was called for. But he never got there alive. He died in route in the trailer to the equine hospital. Autopsy revealed a ruptered vein along the mid-line into the ablomen and he bleed out internally. More than likely this was from scar tissue from the colic surgery in 2002. this happens all to often from that type of surgery. Some sooner than others, he lived 9 more years after the surgery. Which was Oct 20 2002, almost to the day when he died. May he rest in Peace. I Love you and Miss you so Much H.T.
Stay tuned for tomorrow nights tribute to a great show partner!
On a brighter note now, I had a wonderful ride today on Paige. Show season starts the first weekend in May, and I can't wait. The weather is just fantastic today, a high of 57 degrees here at home. Boys loved the fresh air. Love ya, Marion and the blondies.
