HI, left a vote. Went out to see Amber today, Sue went with me. On the way there, Sue was saying that I don't want an Arab, they get sway backs, they are flighty, but sweet and smart. We get there, I pull Amber out of her stall, get her ready to ride. We go into the arena, there is a lesson going on in there. Tasha says come on in. So I go in, get on, and off we go. I notice right away that Amber seems a little antsy. The other end of the arena was open today and the long grass was waving in the wind. She jumped a little when we went by it the first time. No biggie, didn't even get me loose in the saddle. So I take her by it three times, let her stop and check it out, then she was just fine with it. Then a bird flew from one side of the arena out the door. She jumped again, I think we scared the bird when we walked by it! LOL Again, didn't get me loose in the saddle, no big deal. Sue is now saying she is too much horse for me! I keep riding. The lesson is now done and the horse and rider leave the arena, Amber gets a little nervous about it, she wasn't listening to me, and wouldn't stand still. So Tasha, says let me get on, ok, so I get off and let her get on. She says that that is the worse of it, that is all she does. Just have to push her through it, so she showed me how. I got on five minutes later, and had a great ride. More horses came and left, and she would look at them, and I would just jiggle me rein and say "hey I am up here" and she was like ok. On the way home Sue again was like she is too much horse for you, and you really don't want an arab. I say, I plan on going back and riding her some more, Tasha said again today, if I have any problems she will come out and help me. I never got scared, wasn't sure what she was going to do when she got nervous, and the next time, I know what to do. Sure, she needs work, but I think I can handle it. So, I don't go on any trail rides right away, no big deal. I plan on taking my time, doing lots of ground work, and work in the round pen. I think she will be a great horse! I know that Sue just wants me to get the right horse and not get hurt. But, I feel she is the right horse. I got her to go by the gate with the scary grass in less than 5 minutes. This was only ride 3. It was fun and felt good that I got her to go by it. I plan to go out again on Friday. The team penning for tomorrow got canceled due to not enough interest. So instead, she will take her to a show on Sunday, for the exposure! That will be a good thing. She also showed me the cow today that Amber was turned out with for awhile, it is one BIG cow. So, I think, she will be fine with team penning, more cows, but smaller cows! LOL!
