MY THOUGHTS EXACTLY, YOU ARE GOOD....
Well, here is Sterly's update, Dr. Cook came yesterday to pull a new Cushing's test. Most of the regular bloodwork is back and is was all negative. That is good, except we really don't have an answer yet. Because I know her SO well, I'm leaning toward either Cushing or stomach issue, the teeth, not so much because, she has had quidding issues for quite sometime, remember she is 30, her teeth are done every 6 months, and yes, they are not great, but she deals with it. The fact that she won't eat her bucket is what makes me think it is not teeth. For years now, I have always soaked their pellets, because I have been thru choke (not nice) she also did not want her soaked hay cubes(don't feed them dry) she looks at her hay, noses it, like she wants to try it, but just doesn't bother. She also is not drinking as much water as normal, I always put loose salt in their buckets, but if she won't eat her bucket she isn't getting her salt. It could be that she needs her Cushing's meds adjusted, that can make her feel just "off" remember, Sterly is not a complainer, so you have to work hard to get to the bottom of the trouble. When I went to the barn at 5AM, she was standing quietly, but she had finished her bucket over night, she drank a bit of water and she nibbled a bit of hay, she also pooped(yeah) and had peed. She just looks like she isn't feeling very perky. I'll keep you posted, we appreciate the thoughts and concern, Love Donna Lee and Sterly Girly.
PS. Yes the dreaded thin TB skin, I have seen Charlie actually fall to his knees because of a bite, he is SO dramatic, these two are so different, Sterly never makes a fuss, if I wasn't as observant as I am, i'm sure most people would miss half of what I see. Dr. Cook likes the hand tools for teeth as well, better control, but with her missing teeth and the ramping, he feels it is time for the power stuff. We will get an answer, she isn't ready to go, I'll know....talk soon, Donna Lee
