Since Horse Camp . . .
Haven't been on in a while! Sorry guys! Well, after horse camp we started working on free-lunging respect exercises before our riding workout and it has helped tremendously! By the time we were at the 4H Horse Show, he was manageable! We got a white in 9 - 10 Western Showmanship because the little stinker wouldn't trot! Never had that problem before! Then we also got a white in our 9 - 10 Stock Seat Equitation Class because we broke pattern, but it didn't matter to me because we got 2nd Blue in our Pleasure Class and qualified for State! I was told after the class that it was between me and the other Appy in the class. The only difference between us was our heads! Sidekick doesn't like to hold his head in one place, while Chief (the other Appy) holds his head low and consistent. We didn't feel like waiting any longer for the Trail Class so we scratched it.

So, I've always wanted to jump my horse, or just ride English in general so that is our next goal. I signed up for two english classes at State (as well as Western Pleasure) and am working over ground poles at home. Sidekick is still a little unsure of whether he should go fast or not but we're getting there!

Also, my friends and I bought Double Dan Horsemanship CDs and are starting that with our horses. We haven't even finished Exercise 2 in Level 1 but you have to start somewhere!

Until Next time! (Lets face it, it won't be until September after state is the past 2 months is any indication)
