Love and safe travels to Cinco
I trust he will be happy in his new home.
Hello to beautiful Nugget, Mega Late Comer and Boggy Creek; you have a lovely herd.

Thank you, Cheryl, for the tips on the water warmers. At the last (private) barn, they used warmers in the troughs, but not at this larger barn. You know what those OTTBs are like -- they enjoy their comforts. Captain Jack just hates (and sometimes will not drink) icy water. Last winter, he had bad breath (due to insufficient water intake, as his teeth were checked).
I had to hand-bucket tepid water to him, but can not be out on all days. The troughs were icy and he doesn't like putting his muzzle through icy bits.

He's the same with unclear water (I imagine this is a natural instinct). If the troughs are even slightly cloudy (and they keep them very clean at this stable), he won't drink. And, he doesn't like walking through mud puddles to access the trough either! A bit of a character. His preference: clean, white buckets with totally fresh water(I can't blame him).

I'll try to see what I can find. Cold weather is usually brief here, but some winters are colder and wetter than others, like last year, with Hurricane Sandy's effects.

Hope all is well there.

Lovely horses!

Best wishes,
