How are you all doing? What have I got myself into? I am running Eddie for Horse of the Month. On the 18th of this month we will have had Eddie for a whole year! I have known him though since 2007.

I plan to write daily, as I should, but I have to admit that personal blogging may not be possible. I'm working full days and many nights this month but I will do my best to be entertaining!

Many of you have probably not driven a horse. And if you've been in a cart, it was probably a small ride around the block in a carriage. Driving is so much fun and I'm going to have fun sharing it with you this month. By the time September is over, you'll be addicted! :)

Any breed can pull a cart but some are more ideally suited for the task. I'm going to especially highlight Percherons as that is what Eddie is. And a very fine example indeed!

He is the epitome of tall, dark, and very handsome. But don't take my word for it, check out all his photos!

We went on a 10 mile ride this afternoon. My sister and a friend drove Eddie and I drove Pippin. Both horses did amazingly well and are completely tired for the night.

It was a hot sunny day, and we could see the sky! Almost no smoke. It's been really, really smokey here lately with nearby forest fires.

We groomed and harnessed the two horses and off we went. My sister driving Eddie into the ponderosa forest didn't quite make the opening in the fence and flattened one of the posts with the cart wheel.

Hey, I've been driving through that opening for amost a year! The post looked fine until today! She claims that it wasn't her but a rogue elephant. An elephant named Eddie, perhaps?

Anyway, there's something relaxing about the clip clop of hooves and the squeaking of the cart as we go at a nice fast trot through our beautiful valley. Pippin had to canter much of the way to keep up.

So, that's my blog for the day. Stay tuned for more!

Please stop by daily with a vote for Eddie. Leaving you a vote as always.

P.S. Check out Eddie's latest video. Eddie: Desperately Flapping Lips
