Molly and Jenny, perfect names! I bet they're fun to drive!

Thanks so much for stopping by Eddie's page on our second day of his gallop for hotm. Today I would like to give some idea of his size. It took me about 2 years to finally stop being in awe of his awesome size.

Think of the room you're sitting in right now. I expect it has the usual 8 foot ceiling? Okay, look up and imagine Eddie standing next to you. His head would be the height of your ceiling!

How about a piece of standard US letter sized paper? One of his hooves would fill the width of that paper.

How about his mouth? He can swallow a large apple whole!

Now take his one ton of heft and harness him up to a cart. Talk about horse power! It's so much fun to sit and relax while he trots up a storm as we race down the road, taking in the beauty of the snow-capped mountains in the distance and the cattle watching us curiously from their lush, grassy fields.

One of the main advantages to driving is that you can take any friends with you, whether they know how anything about horses or not. And if you have a good horse like Eddie, you don't have to pay constant attention to where you're going as your "engine" has a brain too and can figure things out.

But don't give him too much leeway. You're still the one in charge! And actually, despite a stubborn streak, Eddie prefers it that way. He gets nervous if his driver wants him to make the decisions. He likes having a dependable human to take responsibility.

Here's a link to a video behind Eddie's handsome big butt. Enjoy the ride with us!

Leaving a vote of appreciation.

P.S. And for those who wondered, of course Melian came for the drive yesterday! And ran the whole distance keeping in the shade as much as possible. She waits in the shade of a tree and as we pass by she dashes as fast as she can (which is pretty fast) and goes to the next tree shade and waits for us slow folk.
