I'm so glad you enjoy my adventures!

Wow, was it day 5 already? I'm glad you enjoyed my driving blog last night. It's lots of fun and as Susan pointed out, so few do it anymore.

Tonight's blog is about the colour of the Percheron. Many people think that they are only white (called grey by us horsey people) and many people think that they are only black. They are both! And many times one horse really can be both because he ends up a pretty dark, dappled grey.

Do you recall seeing medieval paintings of battles with those huge grey horses fighting in the midst of the melee? Those are Percherons or their direct ancestors. They have quite an exotic history.

According to one source, in the 1880's Percherons were actually the most popular breed of horse in the USA. Back then people were much more dependent on the horse.

Interestingly enough (back to colour) grey and black are actually the same colour genetically. Like many grey horses, Percherons are born black and they either stay that way, turn dark grey or light grey (white). This why a supposedly "white" horse is referred to as grey. The base pigmentation is still black.

Rarely a Percheron can be bay, chestnut, or roan and that is acceptable.

I had no time to take any horses out today. Too busy! :( I hope to have time this weekend for another long drive with my friends. Wish you could come!

But wait, you can! Join us on one of our drives in the video below. This is one of the first times we took Pippin and Eddie out together.

Much appreciation for your support. Leaving a vote.

P.S. I forgot to paste my previous blogs on Eddie's page but they are there now. So, if you missed any you can go and check them out.
