Congratulations
on winning horse of the day. Love that pony!~

Are you ready for the weekend? Any adventures planned? I do hope to take both Eddie and Pippin for another drive again. If I can't get a friend to drive one of them, (want to come?) then I'll drive one and pony the other from the cart. It works pretty well both ways. I'll probably drive Eddie and pony Pippin. After all, Eddie is a bit stronger.

Today I would like to highlight some of the techniques of driving. For Eddie, I like to keep the reins with light contact on the bit so that he knows I'm there. It serves two purposes.

First it reassures him that he's not out alone having to fend for himself and "gasp!" make weighty decisions.

Second, it reminds him that if he tries any funny business, I'm there to nip it in the bud!

He may be a gentle giant, but he's still a giant! With Pippin I'll let him have a loose rein. He is not a giant.

We drive on a lot of paved roads so just as when you're riding, we can go no faster than a trot. However, he can go at a pretty fast trot! And we wear his shoes down quite admirably! :)

We also live in a forest and there's a short route going through an opening in the trees where we can canter and sometimes even gallop. It's a pretty awesome feeling to be behind that much power with the cart shaking and jolting over the uneven ground.

Some of the spaces between the trees are pretty narrow and we can squeeze through with inches to spare. That's why I haven't been able to get any on video yet. No one else will drive like that!

Today's video is... Fire Breathers
