Even though this is my blog for the 10th, I post it after midnight which means it's the beginning of a new day. And today is a special commemoration of all those who died in the terror attacks on 9/11/01. I like to think of today as a day to celebrate the courage of all those who stood fast and resolute in the face of terror.

For all those who passed away, rest in peace, brave souls.

Today I would like to highlight another great feature of the versatile Percheron. They are very good at adapting to all types of climate and terrain. They are found all over the world in myriads of climes and terrains.

Here in the mountains of Northern California we have very hot dry summers and very cold snowy winters.

No problem for Eddie! In fact, there are two Percheron farms in our valley. On one of them the horses run free and can do as they please. The mares foal every spring and the owner leaves the colts in with them so there are always a few Percheron stallions with the herd.

While I personally like to bug my horses to death with attention, treats, cleaning, etc., I do think it's pretty cool seeing these semi-wild draught horses living their own life and making their own rules.

They are thrown hay in the winter but other than that, they're on their own! When the foals are born they are already taller than Pippin! Hm, but what isn't? And they are so cute!

Today's video is featuring Pippin. I'm in Eddie's cart and my sister is driving Pippin. Watch what he does with the wheel of Eddie's cart! /watch-video-

Many thanks to all those who stopped by Acorn's page for her win for critter of the day. She'll blog in a few minutes.

Leaving a vote of thanks. I really appreciate your support this month!
