HI, left a vote. My lesson was cancelled half an hour before it was to start. So since I was ready to go, I went. Amber is really green, so I have been spending a lot of time doing ground work, making sure she has a good foundation and work on a bond with her. People have been giving me a hard time for not riding her as much, but this is how I choose to approach it. I haven't ridden her in 6 weeks. I rode her today. Sometimes we have an issue when I go to bridle her, so I have been working on that, and today, got her bridled on the first try. She usually stands perfectly when I go to mount, but the last time she didn't and well, we spent some time that day working on it. Today, she stood like a statue. She didn't move until I told her to go. I could tell by the way she was walking,(fast), that she really wanted to run. So I stopped her, backed her, and then we just stood there. I told her I just want to walk today, I need to work on my posture. So, off we go, she walked, the longer we walked the more relaxed she got. At the start of the ride, her head was at normal height, but within minutes she dropped it, was making relaxing sound horses make, and also had a very loose rein. Felt like we were in a western pleasure class. She was awesome today! I think all of the ground work has really helped us a lot! Lesson was rescheduled for next Wed.
