P.S VOTE 457 and how did that show go???
A rainy day vote ! For some of the newer HC pals who have not the history of my horses I am going to give the history so this is long ! If you already know, then skip over the blog (but please vote?)
Here it is:
My first horse just barely made it as horse sized as a sorrel with flaxen mane & tail QH mare at 14.2 HH. Her name was FLASH and I had her at my cousin’s farm until her death at almost 31 years. I had her since I was between 10 an 11 years, then my mom agreed she would be mine boarded at my cousin’s farm when I turned 14.
Second horse I owned was Signal Leo Bars, a gelding, from 1976-1980 (he stayed on my boyfriend’s pasture with his pasture pal Ginger Leo Bars until his death and my break up with the boyfriend, Signal was also an AQH, bay with star and black tipped.
I did not own or ride any other horses for 15 years due to education and career. Not many guys in my life, just work & travel! I rode other horses from France, Manila, Bora Bora, Switzerland and then my life changed!
I moved to France for work in western Europe in 1999. Again I rode everyone else’s horses when I had a chance. I was used to western riding (mostly field running and trail) and once in Europe got used to the English style of riding.
My husband found ANGEL PETITE FLEUR in 2007 for me, a tobiano paint mare left behind at an Equestrian center. She lived with us on our property and a large rented field across from us from late 2007 until her death December 2010. THE BEST MARE I HAVE LOVED!
THEN, my husband bought me WOLKEN, 16.2 plus HH Hanoverian with a sad history. He was unhappy living away from his saver from the slaughterhouse who also gave him a nervectomy due to a previous owner’s constant leg beatings when he did not win or succeed in his events which was mostly jumping & attelage, cart racing. It was Wolken (a big sweetheart) who I had a bad accident with resulting in a pelvic, back and wrist fracture, a compacted back and this was not taken care of for two months until I finally had correct diagnosis. Wolken went back to his original home because no one could afford to buy him or use him for what he was trained for where we live. So the “friend” who was supposedly giving me Wolken cost us a fortune and me a wealth of sadness.
I could not ride for almost a year, did some boring indoor & outdoor arena work and then I went on a long trip last January 2013 and met DARLING in Phuket, southern Thailand. The rest is on his page. He gave me everything back and the best time in any ocean riding treks than with any other horses!
The others are my Swiss Freiburger horses I ride in the alps when there (Felix, Lena, Chanel & Jon) and my neighbor’s horses ANKA (Polish Slaski/Anglo-Arab mix) and Alliance an French trotter very much like the Standardbred. Both are 3 year old mares, Anka is now in Angel PF’s field but has beautiful stables as does Alliance a little further up the road.
Voilà, I left a lot of horses out in the midst but I would be
