Good Morning, well the visit from the nutritionist was interesting to say the least...the good news is, I'm doing everything right as far as feed for Charlie. The bad news is, in order to go barefoot, here is what Marc does with his TB's, and before I try to explain this, keep in mind that this is a L O N G process, it won't happy overnight. He basically forces the hoof to become strong by OVER stimulation and corrective trimming, meaning, he lets them chip, he let's them bruise and even abscess if necessary, the over stimulation comes from the rigorous training, the pounding, the running, not just lolly gagging around the pasture. I know it sounds like cruel and unusual punishment, but it works for his racehorses. People at the track are always asking him "what is your secret? how can your horses run barefoot?" He said this is not for everyone, you must be committed to the work, and be prepared for the set backs, but when you get there you have a STRONG hoof. After a lot of thought, I realize, this is not for Charlie, he is not a working racehorse anymore, he is my pal, and it will be shoes for him. Have a great day, we left votes, Love Donna Lee
