Rescue's Rescue #3
My new owners named me Rescue. Why? Well, tune in. I was living in a home with three acres. I lived with seven other horses, two donkeys, three goats, five dogs, eighteen cats, thirty-four hens and roosters, and a evil couple. They had a nice truck, house and trailer. But a scary muddy paddock that was nothing close to an acre in the back were eight horses (including me) stayed. We huddled under a tin shed type thing that was about a foot above our heads. We were extremly hungry. The dogs were trapped in a closed in shed that they said got terribly hot in the summer time. The goats had an even smaller paddock that looked about the same. The said it flooded in the spring. The cats stayed in the house and snuck out at night to hunt for mice and rats. The donkeys had a paddock that was a tad smaller than ours, but bigger than the goats. The thirty-four chickens stayed in a hen house that had holes patched up with duck tape in the roof. The duck tape was later patched up with- more duck tape. Cars drove slowly by our place. One day I saw a duly truck pulling a trailer. Then I saw lots of other cars with "ANIMAL RESCUE" on their sides. They first took the donkeys, then the goats, next the hens and roosters, they rescued the dogs from their death trap, they seized the cats from the house and last the came for us. We were loaded into a trailer. Then the gave the couple a paper that I managed to see that said: COURT HEARING. And that was the last I saw of that horrible trap. I ate so much later on that day. My belly was full again. Smiley men and women came in to see me everyday. I lady and a man took me and my pal with them. They had a beautiful sunny paddock that was two acres. They had lush green juciy grass that I loved to nibble on. Yummy. I was ridden for the first time in a long time. They gave me a minty sweet treat that they called pep-per-mint. Yummy. I was extremly happy when their grandchildren came and was pampered all the time. They gave me a royal blue and red halter with my name sewn on it. I never had a name before! Rescue. I liked it. THE END
