A Long Note from Shybang about the Camping Trip
I'm back! Wow did we have fun. My human mom drove us about 2 hours to the National Park on Thursday late afternoon. We got there around 6:30pm and she and her friend set up camp - I had a little pipe fenced corral and the dog Rico got to stay in the trailer with mom. What a wimp. He had to have the air conditioning. I had my water bucket, my pellet bucket and my hay bag so I was happy. We went out on the trail on Friday in the morning and rode several hours. There is this big wooden bridge that goes over the river on the trail we were on. It's way high over the river and kinda scarey. And it is a pretty long bridge with no railings. Sort of makes you dizzy if you look at the water but we did it and mom's friend got a picture of us going across it. Will get mom to post one when we get them back. There were rocky hills to climb and places where you were high in the hills and could look out through the trees and over these big rocks at the valley and lake covered with blooming lilly pads below. It was beautiful. We saw deer too. I scared one of them back into the trees. I'm tough. Mom said she was real pleased with how I did. She expected me to be a wild child because she had not taken me riding since October. I only had one episode when she wouldn't let me go first and I figured if I threw a fit I could get her to let me go ahead of her friend. I threw a good one too. I shook my head to try to shake off the pressure of the bit and then I did a semi-rear. Just enough to launch myself into the air in a forward leap so that when I landed on my front feet, I could buck my heels to the sky....but it didn't work. My mom calls it my 'airs above the ground move' but after that she was more determined than ever that I would not be lead horse so I had to let her have her way. Since I walk faster than the others I did eventually work my way back to lead horse but it took a while. Every time mom saw that I was about to pass her friend she would rein me back but I finally got to be first again. We got to play in the lake a little too. Let me tell you, if you ever get to go into a lake with lilly pads, don't bother, they are not good to eat. Yuck! We also went to the boating area where people put their boats in the water. We stopped there to get a drink but those boat monsters (fishing boats and canoes) scared me at first. I was already nervous looking at them then someone reved the motor on a Jet Ski that was out of the water on it's trailer to get the water out of the lines and I almost jumped on Bebe, mom's friends horse. BeBe doesn't like me very much and she really didn't like that but I was scared. Like I said before, I'm tough so I did get over it. On the second day we went to the same spot and the canoes were coming in from a canoe trip and I dared them to get near me. See if you can make me move, I thought. We came back to camp for the hot afternoon and went out again in the evening and then again on Saturday morning. It was fun but I was poop
