Well what i would do is get all of the work done faster, and still good, and try to get as much time in with him as you can. You could also go out in the pasture with a weed wacker and get all of the poison ivy out. If your friend is as understanding as mine are then you could tell her you are concerned and you want to help him. she may let you work on him. Do you have any of your own horses? if you do then maybe you can take him to live with you.
