Hi! I'm sorry. I understand. I think that it would help a lot if you got a good trail horse, already broke and trained, 'cause foals, you have to buy different halters as they get bigger and it wouldn't take as much work if you got a mare or gelding or stallion (if you wanted to breed). You can always breed them when the economy is better, or when you feel like taking on the responsibility of a foal. I would try a horse first, just to see what taking care of them would be like. Then with a foal, you would already know the responsibilities, but you add much more to it. Hope this helps.
