we all love horses sooo much! the best way to be a good horse owner is to get lots of experience so you know what to do when horses act up. a foal is a big responsibility for a child or inexperienced rider. you can start them wrong and make it hard for them to be a good partner for you or anyone else. then they won't have a good life but mostly likely be passed from one bad home to another. i try to keep ALL my animals well behaved so that if i have to go away and someone else takes care of them it will be fun, not constant problems. you should start with an old horse that knows his job really well and he will teach you things like, what you do when a horse throws his head up and you can't put the bridle on, how to pick up hooves for cleaning so your horse stays healthy, how to give your horse deworming medicine and so many things like that. some of my old horses practically bridle themselves. lol. while foals are cute, they can flatten you real fast when they get scared and try to jump into your lap or run past you. they don't mean to hurt you but they have to learn a blanket hanging over the fence rail is not going to come at them and eat them.
