Not a dumb question at all! I did not even know what it was until last year, and I have been showing for a little over 5 years now :)!!! Anyways, it is when you start at the hoof wall with the clippers and clip against the hair until you have reached the knee/hock. You do this all the way around, so it is a nice short clip, I use #10 blades. It is also really good if it gets muddy in the spring where you are b/c the horse is less likely get have a fungus, or whatever growing in those long hairs. So once your first show comes around, your horse's legs will only need some touch up trimming done, and they will look much cleaner/neater. If your horse has a stocking/sock, you should do a clip like that 5-7 days before the show, but just on the white part. You might have known that though. -Amber
