UPDATE: ~June 24, 2009~
I rode bareback again yesterday morning, maybe like 30-45 minutes. I rode Cheyenne into the pond & it took forever to get her out! She wanted to just stand in the pond and/or splash. Thankfully she has never laid down in the water when I'm on her. It was nice just standing there in the shade though. We saw a few bullfrogs (they were pretty noisy) & probably like a hundred dragonflies buzzing around. There were one or two horseflies buzzing us but I wasn't very worried about Cheyenne, I'd just sprayed her, I was worried it would bite me!
Yesterday afternoon I went out on our porch & heard the horses splashing in the pond, so I slipped my boots on, grabbed a camera & ran on the trail through the woods to get to the pond before they left. Pepsi, Raina, & Majesty were in the pond still. They splashed & waded for several minutes. The water in some parts was almost 5 ft. deep, & that wasn't even in the middle. Raina really seemed to be enjoying herself, she would go down to where all that was showing was her head. At least Raina & Majesty (I never saw the others do this, but they might have) were eating pond weeds that were floating around while they were nearly up to their backs in water. It was so cool to see them doing that. Domino layed down & rolled in the water. At least all of the horses were in there at some point ,but Cheyenne, Maggie, & Sassy were out before I got to the pond. I took pictures, which I will post soon, but then the camera battery went dead & I couldn't get pics of all the horses.
