That is so nice that you have a new best friend with whom you can ride. Sorry for the delay in getting back to you. I always get so behind in my blogs. On Thursday we went riding and I rode Prince bareback. It's the first time since my bronco incident with him in November and he was really good. If he continues to behave I think I'll do it more often. I don't think I'll try jumping bareback anytime soon though. I like cantering and slow trotting but until my knee is properly healed it's hard to keep my balance. Plus I need practice!

I took Pippin out with the cart last Sunday. It had been a couple of weeks. I had just been taking him for walks because I've been training Melian to walk on a leash. So, this was her first time in the cart and at first she was nervous but then she loved it and even took the reins in her mouth.

Last Monday we went for a walk, my sister and her parrot and me and Pippin and Melian. Pippin and Melian were doing fine together and then suddenly out of nowhere this weimaraner attacked us. He was charging us and barking like crazy but his owner managed to catch him in time. Pippin's response was to rear and bolt. I hung onto him but he hit Melian with his feet and scared her to death. Not good for their first walk together. After Pippin's initial scare he then was so furious that he was trying to get away from me and attack the dog. He doesn't like strange dogs anyway and once chased one all the way to it's home. I gave Melian some treats right next to Pippin's nose so that she would have good associations with him right away. Pippin was jealous so he got a dog biscuit too. I don't think he really liked it (first time that's ever happened) but he ate it anyway. Melian is fine and wasn't injured. The next day we went the same way and she was scared because she thought that the dog would be there again. In a way, I'm glad because that means she's not blaming it on Pippin. I want them to be friends and she seems to have forgotten what he did.

And then on Wednesday I took Pippin out for a bike ride. I haven't done that since November when Prince injured my knee with his bucking bronco act. So, I didn't think Pippin would be too energetic but he ran the whole way, 8 miles, and at one point where the road was nice and flat he galloped full speed and was pulling me at over 24mph. We both thoroughly enjoyed it and I know he was happy being out with his herd.

And then tonight Pippin and Melian had some fun together. We went for a walk and I let Pippin run free in the forest. He was running around like a wild thing and Melian was hot on his heels. She's not quite fast enough to keep up but she was smart enough to cut corners. Now she's pooped. Pippin isn't though. I think he could have run for another 15 minutes at that flat out gallop. Too bad I didn't have a camera. I really need to carry one around with me.

Sorry, I do get carried away with all my adventures. Here's a vote for you and I hope you had a great weekend.
