Part 3 of Mooseys Bad Day
but I calmed him down. Soon it was just me standing in his stall with him, & I sat there, for 3 hours straight. Evies owner (well, technically she was leasing her but was planning to buy her in a couple of weeks after she had finshed her trial month) & I went back & forth checking on each other & then I almost fell asleep so my dad came in & held his head for me. Jane broke down crying & so did several of the other people because the vet said he didnt have an more fluid bags he could treat the horses with. We called up an equine vet place up in fort worth that is amazing, spotless, & has everything you could imagine you would need for treating a horse. Someone brought up a trailer & I was told I could go with them, then when the vets said they didnt know if the horses would make it, Jane said she didnt even know if she could handle it, let alone have several people around her that couldnt handle it. Moose was the last one to be let in, there were now 3 horses colicking. As I let go of his mane a few hairs were left in my hand & I didnt let go of them until this morning (pretty wierd, but I fell asleep at four since Jane promised to keep me posted by texting me) Someone else led him out of his stall & I lost it again. I didnt want to follow them out so I stood there with several of the girls. Then we heard a yell, it was one of the girls calling for a vet. Her horse hand been treated to get rid of the blister beetles, he was treated to preven them, he had been oiled & given an IV, but he had burst a blood vessel in the process & as we walked over we saw blood on the stall walls & all over the girls shirt. She was about to break down crying, & as the vet came down she told him that he was swaying & kicking & sweating & breathing really hard. The vet said to watch him & just walked away, that was it. So she stood there in his stall for about 30 seconds, the horse (named Ritz) looked at the ground, pawed, & then dropped. the girl yelled at him again & got him up & Jane came over & said to load him into the trailer, They gave him painkillers & he was loaded away. By this time all of us with horses going to the hospital had broken down in tears & people were hugging & crying, it felt like a movie or a bad dream. I followed Ritz out to the trailer & Moosey was waiting to be loaded up. He looked at me & nickered painfully. I hugged him & kissed his muzzle & told him everything would be ok, that they were gonna make him all better. & I did this until he was loaded up. Then I stood to the side & watched them drive away until I couldnt see them anymore. That night I got txt messages with updates. Some made me laugh, some cry, others sigh with relief, & some filled me with worry. I am possibly gonna visit him today but I am definetly going to the barn. So I guess I'll tell you more when I find out. It was so scary though, they thought he was gonna die & theyre still not sure, we have to wait.
