Hey Sunny! Hoping you will get on hc soon! Miss ya tons! Are you guys enjoying this weather as much as we are? It's sooo muddy so we still can't ride outside but at least I'm not covered in layers just to keep warm! Ditto is really enjoying this weather too! He leaves like mats of white fur wherever he goes! He's shedding like crazy! Yesterday I got to ride and he did great! We didn't canter but I felt like what we did do was really necessary before we start cantering using the whole arena! He has always been scared to go past this window/door at the far end of the arena. Something about the way the sun comes in totally freaks him out! So he would always try to cut it really short and speed up as we were going away from it. And I knew especially when we were doing our cantering work that we won't be able to do well if he can't walk to the other end of the arena without bolting! So everything we did was in a circle at that end of the arena. Each circle we made we would get a little closer. And we walked him right up to where he could stick him head out and see that nothing scary was going to jump out and eat him. I really want him to be as comfortable at that end of the arena as he is at the close end. So by the time we were done he liked to go up to the window and see his friends outside. And would comfortably walk, trot and back right next to it. We put a few horses out in the indoor to play while no one is riding so after we were done he was going to stay in there to play with Crystal. I untacked him near the gate at the close end so I didn't have as far to carry my saddle and tack back. He stood perfectly until i was done untacking him and when I was done he looked at me as if to say is that all? Am I done? And then he took off at a canter straight for the window that he never even would get near! Stuck his head right out and started calling to his friends! I was so happy! It was really funny to watch especially after seeing him bolt away from it when we got near it at the beginning of our ride. Sorry this was a boring blog! Going to the barn again tonight! bye! =D
