Hi, here's a vote. Jumping flat is basically what it sounds like; when the horse is going over the jump his back is flat and his head is high, as opposed to the correct position where the horse's back is rounded and the head and neck are lower and reaching forward. Don't know why, but Arabians naturally jump flat, and when a horse jumps flat they are thrown off balance. Just picture the spine...if the spine is flat it causes the head to go up, imagine how difficult it would be to jump perfectly balanced. If the spine is rounded, it causes the head and neck to reach forward and the horse will have a much smoother, more balanced landing.
