How are you doing? How's college? And Trigger? It was great to hear from you again. I'm glad you like Pippin's new photos. I was lucky to get those shots. We live in a really pretty area.

The big horses are doing great and we've had some nice rides on them. Pippin isn't doing well yet though. He's been on Dex every 3 days now and it's not helping his swelling anymore. His withers and shoulders are all swollen again and his face never completely went down. I don't know what to do and any advice would be greatly appreciated. The vet suspects a severe allergic reaction and has told me to stop the Dex because of the high risk of founder.

Pippin has never been sick a day in his life and I've been proud of the fact that he's so fit and healthy. Minis are prone to founder, colic, and obesity so I've been very careful with everything about his care. And now this.

I'm limiting his grazing range now, will cut down the weeds in his small pen, and hope to wash him tomorrow in case he's allergic to the last shampoo I used or the weeds. 5 year olds generally don't develop new allergies though. Perhaps he keeps getting stung by wasps?! Who knows?

Other than that he seems happy and it's not bothering him too much. His feet are still a bit tender from trimming which is longer than usual and I hope that's all it is and not founder. I'm probably overreacting but better safe than sorry. We all know how quickly a horse can go from healthy to hurt.

So, how is everything with you? I hope everyone is doing fine and that you're enjoying the cooler weather of autumn. It's nice here and still hasn't frosted. We've even getting squash and tomatoes among other veggies, from the garden still. So weird for October but I'm not complaining. The longer the better.

Acorn the squirrel is thriving and getting cheekier daily. She doesn't ask for things anymore. She demands them. When I go into her aviary she flies over and jumps on my head and then swings herself all over me. She's utterly adorable. If you want to check out her new photos go to the small animal channel to profile 188686. Here's a vote for you and enjoy riding.

P.S. Eddie is entered in the Western Horse section of the Virtual Horse Show. Would you vote for him when you get the chance? Thanks so much.
