OMG!! today was the best day ever!! i hauled sing to pinehill equestrian center, in bellville TX to do cross country. it was 7 hours from the time i walked out of my house this morning to leave, until i drove back into the driveway, but it was worth the effort.
i found that if i put a headstall with a bit in her mouth to load her, she doesn't bolt and run away. it took about 15 minutes of her sniffing and stepping up with 2 legs then backing out before i got her in. once she went in with 4 legs she stayed in, an improvement from her worst behavior where she would bolt backwards back out of the trailer dozens of times before she'd stay in. i'm proud of her because she was literally trembling once she came into the trailer.
then, she was very well behaved, though a bit "lookie" at all the painting of fences that was going on in the stadium arena and the sand piles out on the cross country course. i felt like we were flying over the jumps but ruth, the trainer, took some video for me and it's very slow and relaxed looking. she was very impressed with sing and told me i need to find a teen ager to show her cross country and start advancing her. i'm too tired to do more than the easy jumps. hope your day was wonderful, too.
