I would definately look into getting some dressage lessons, especially if he is coming back from an injury, dressage gives a great basis for jumping too. Even if you cant get lessons, lower level dressage is mainly just flat work, collecting up your horse and putting it in a frame. You can find tons of articles online im sure to help you figure it out. I was a hunter jumper and I thought I would always want to jump, but when I got into the dressage I learned how much I really enjoy it! It can be frustrating at times trying to learn it, but the results are better communication between you and your horse, and it is very satisfying :)
