Hi everyone, This story comes from Lisa & Zans Fancy Superstar. Just goes to show things happen for a reason.
I do have an interesting story about how my barn cat B.B. came to be here. It was a year ago in April. I live in the country but work in the city. I work the afternoon shift 2:45 to 10:45. So, on the this day last April I was hurrying to pack a lunch before having to go to work. I reached into the box at the bottom of the pantry and grabbed one of those small cans of fruit cocktail. I quickly tossed it into my lunch bucket and went out the door. So, there I am at a machine shop. Around 5 o'clock I thought I'd have a snack and eat my fruit cocktail....turns out the fruit cocktail was a can of cat food. I have four cats who live in the house. So much for my 5 o'clock snack. Then as I'm laughin' with a friend about my mistake another friend comes up and tells me there's a little kitten out in the parking lot. Come on! I "accidentally" bring a can of cat food to work and there's a little yellow kitten, soakin' soppin' wet out in the parkin' lot? So, out I go with the can of cat food. Now the little kitten was not friendly and would not come up to me and ran under one of the bushes close to the building. I took the can of cat food opened it up and dumped it under the bush and the little fella' sang a BIG LONG meoooooooooooow. Hence the name B.B. As in B.B. sings the blues. He was eating the food when I went back in to the buildin'. So, after that I was hooked but had no way to get him home. I couldn't catch him. Soon the news of my little pal was all through the shop and another friend comes over to me and says he will bring in a live catch trap...I don't tell him I have one at home.....and I say that would be great. Then the next day I deliberately bring a can cat food and put it in the live trap. It's raining again or still, I should say...little B.B. was in the trap not 5 minutes after I put the food into it. I brought him in the building, out of the rain and put him in a quite stairwell until it was time to go home. It took three days for B.B. to decide there wasn't anything to be scared of. He was so funny at first. He would hiss at me as I was petting him and his little back came up to meet my hand at the same time. He was so confused! Now he is a healthy, happy, neutered tom cat who doesn't allow any rodents in the barn or in the immediate area for that matter. He is my sweet little Beebers and is Fancy's friend too. She puts her head down and he rubs his body on her face. Every time I pet him or even think of him it reminds me that things happen for reasons. And that sometimes what you think is a mistake is anything but. Thanks Lisa for sharing your story:) Joey, Ginger, & Angel Betsy
