Hi everyone..Just a couple of days left to the HOTM. I thought I would share a personal story of how Betsy helped me. We were on a trail ride in Joseph, Utah. It's a ride to raise money for St. Jude's children's hospital. There were about 50 riders and many with not much experience on the trail (they just wanted to help) About half way on the trail a horse got out of control and ran into Betsy & me. It pushed us into a tree and I lost my balance. Betsy had to recover and turn to slide 3 feet into the river and cross. When she slid I went off hitting my head on a rock (reason for a helmet!) My friends jumped off and ran to help me. I had a bad cut on my head and was a little goofy! The funny thing is that several of the other horses/mules walked off when the rider dismounted, but Betsy stayed right by me. My friends wrapped my head with vet wrap (bright blue) and I was able to get back on. Some of my friends wanted me to ride double with them and pony Betsy, I said no.. She will take care of me. Betsy walked so careful back to camp. (5 miles)It was as if she knew I was hurt. My friend's husband drove me to the hospital and sat there for 4 hours. As it turned out I had a severed artery and had 54 stitches. That ride built a bond so strong between Betsy and I. I knew she knew what had happened. I hope I took care of her in the end as she took care of me. Thank you all for helping me honor her memory. Love you guys! Joey, Ginger, & Angel Betsy PS my scar looks like a horseshoe:)
