How We Met

I got her when I was 14.

A little bit about Pixie Dust.

Pixie was 2, and pretty much untrained when I got her. She was well cared for in her previous home, but hadn't been worked with much. It was a joy and learning experience to train her. I keep her at a farm where she is occasionally used for educational programs and or pony rides at birthday parties. She has made a lot of people happy, especially me! Shetlands can have a repution of being ornery, but Pixie is one of the sweetest equines I have ever met. She loves people, and other animals.

Hi! HOW have you been? I am really hoping well. It has been a while. I have missed you so much. I have been so busy this summer, its crazy! To sum it up: TV show..writing it (going well), birthday (turned 15, July 22), youth group events, hanging with family, boating, getting massively sun burned (almost my whole body, haha=P), an all nighter, a lot of sugar, hanging with friends, saw 2 movies this past week (Dark Night Rises and Spiderman, both really good), and museum time. I could tell you all about those things, but that would probably take all night. Well, I really hope you are well. I have truly missed you, I still have not forgotten about you! Hehe! Thanks for visiting even when I was away :) I hope to stay on track for now on. I may, sometimes, have to run by leaving quick votes. Fancy & Trigger are moseying on down the trail with a Tuesday vote for you. Did you enjoy a Memorial Day Celebration of any kind?

We trailered to the farm for a trailride with Buttercup! I hate not being able to get any pics this time. Fancy surprised me! Fancy was not very familiar with the drop down into the creek, but she went slowly and with out any problem. Then we worked Buttercup at the same creek crossing because Buttercup was determined not to cross, but she didn't know about me. LOL. We got her to cross it several times before leaving! And Little Trigger was the champ of the day! He rode Little Cowboy and his smaller cousin all day. And he trudged along like a champ without giving them any problem what so ever. I am sure are getting to like that little horse ")

Hey!! It is Lara & Mac here!! Well I am sooo sorry we have not been on HC very much this past year and we had a very busy school year that is now coming to an end and we will have some more time for horse channel!! Now is the best part of the year when school comes to an end and horse shows kick it into full gear!!

Anyways so I will update you on me and Mac’s progress so far this year, we started off the winter riding only once a week and that was going really good, Mac was accomplishing sooo much!! Then it came time for the annual awards banquet which is head every year and me and Mac did wonderful winning 5 championship provincial awards and 3 jr champion zone awards, which is wonderful!! Since we did so well in our province we are trying to qualify for the Saskatchewan Summer Games in Dressage!! It is a big job but we hope we make the team!!! Now we are riding twice/three times a week to train hard for the Summer Games and the upcoming filled summer of horse shows!! So wish us luck and we hope we do well!!

Anyways let me know what you and your horse are up to and what your plans for summer are because I would love to hear them!!! Well hope all is well and left a vote!!!! Also Me & Mac would love to run for July HOTM and would really love your support!!

Any one enjoying any horse shows this weekend or any riding?

FANCY'S PERCEPTIONS:

Little Cowboy went to see the Avengers Thursday night with his older brother.
Buttercup has been acting like a bucking rodeo horse. Then my brother got a cramp in his leg. LOL

Friday I used the clippers on Fancy for the second time. I allowed plenty of time for desensitizing. She was very good and seemed to enjoy the vibration of the clippers on her chin. It was funny, the way she kept moving her chin towards the clippers when I would move them away.

Saturday Fancy and I attended our 2nd horse show. This was a very first show for Cowboy and Trigger. There was a lot more horses competing in each class this time!
I was not able to keep up with how many horses were in each class this time. Fancy got 5th place in Open Halter all mares and 3rd place in Adult Western Non-Trotting. Fancy didn't place in Adult Halter English or Western this time.

Trigger was on his best ever behavior! Cowboy and Trigger placed in each event they entered! They got 4th place in Youth Western Walk/Jog, 2nd place in Youth Catalog Race, and 4th place in Youth Flag Race. Cowboy and Trigger received lots of comments on how they seemed perfect for one other. My little duo made a ton of friends of all ages. The farm dog took a liking to them too. People were saying that dog would have to go home with Cowboy and Trigger. OH NO, Can't afford to feed any thing else! LOL :~)

Saturday and Sunday evenings were spent at the horse clinic. Fancy and I are learning how to be good show participants along with other members. During the halter and showmanship sessions Fancy was very good. Fancy was complemented on her ability to halt squarely. Under saddle, Fancy found a hyper buddy. Each time they met in the same spot of the arena, they would both kick up and get excited. They acted like they both saw something there. Nobody knows except the two of them. LOL. Sunday was much better. Fancy was complimented on being the first brave horse to cross the tarp. All horses behaved well!!!

Adam's Ale - Water.

Cowboy took Trigg to the vet after school today. I thought he might be a pony or something. LOL! But the vet says he is a full Arabian, just kind of small and he says that can be normal.

After our vet visit, Cowboy and I visited the farm. Buttercup has given her little heart to my brother after all. Buttercup was out, eating grass when my brother walked by, she actually wanted to follow him with ears forward and a very happy horsey expression! So different from weeks ago!!! I am happy for him.

I forgot to tell you, I got Fancy some sweet rolls for her birthday and she did not like them. I had to get Fancy some watermelon. But Trigger loved the sweet rolls, so I gave him the sweet rolls. Fancy would get in between Trigg and the sweet rolls and try to keep him from eating them. When she walked or turned away from them Trigg would try to sneak around her to get them. It would take him a while, but finally he would get to eat them. Those two were so funny.

Fancy and I are learning some things for our new halter and showmanship interest. It is going to take some time before we are ready for showmanship. But we can have fun learning in the meantime.

I may be offline Saturday. I will try and log in to vote contest if I can't do anything else.

Thank you so much for everything you have done, and for the incredibly touching emails and postings. My parents and I are just so deeply touched, and I just really can't even put our appreciation in words. Not only were you an amazing friend to Joanna, you've been an amazing supporter of my parents and me. From the bottom of our hearts, thank you!
(And sorry for not always responding sooner to your messages; between work and kids and horses, I don't get on facebook as often as I would like).

Hi again Frances - Just wanted to share a message from my mom when she forwarded some of your very sweet messages to our family,
An update on this message is that Pixie Dust WON Horse of the Month honors because Frances and her friends (unknown to us) rallied over 8000 votes on the Horse Channel for a picture of Pixie. We are so touched that Joanna's friends would go to so much effort to honor her (and Pixie). And Frances' words are beautiful. Brian and I do not do Facebook, but perhaps some of you knew about this and helped with it. Thank you. We are humbled that Joanna is being remembered in this way.

A fresh new week! AHHHHH, how nice:)
Saturday morning when I opened the door to go out, I noticed the strong smell of the blossoming flowers. I walked to my hanging basket and took a big whiff of those blooms! And you know, as I did this I thought of Joanna & all the other people on this very earth that do not have freedom of movement. And I thought of what it would mean for them to walk over and smell those flowers if they had the chance.
With this in mind, I pray that you will dance in the very glory of this day. Do something exciting today! I know some think it is Monday, time to settle down. Well why??? Monday means a whole new week, a new beginning! A chance to love again, a chance to live another day! Put a smile on your face, take this day and make it what you want it to be.
Look at Fancy's perception today and make something good & exciting happen this day!!! Believe in the ODDS!!!

FANCY NEIGHS THANKS FOR THE BIRTHDAY WISHES!!!

Early this morning Cowboy and I attended a horse show class. Learned a lot and had a wonderful time!

After lunch Buttercup & my brother came over & went for a stroll with Cowboy and Trigg. I walked beside Cowboy & Trigg during their ride. We all had to wait under the carwash till the rain stopped. Buttercup is doing much better! She doesn't seem to give her heart away to just anyone. She is a sweet girl once she accepts you. She is finally BEGINNING to accept my brother. She is beginning to keep those ears up and happy.
I seem to be quite the little instigator here. I had to insist they try all kind of things. It was FUN!!! I had them going between swings, under picnic shelters, going up steps, going up and down small hills and concrete walls. My brother seemed to be amused. Little Cowboy was just having fun. LOL. There was a lot of laughing!!!

Fancy had and easy day today. All she had to do was look pretty and be sweet, she done an excellent job at that. LOL!
