My Horse Profile

Miniature Horse from E, CA

Pippin (Remembering Melian)

About Me

Active within 46 Days

I am from E, CA and I've been a Club Horse member for 7 years, 7 months and 22 days

Nicknames: Lost Spoke's Winter Bay Mist

Age: 9 years old

Gender: Stallion

Breed: Miniature Horse

Height: 31" & 200lbs

Color: Bay Roan/Appaloosa with a white star and snip.

Type of Riding: I drive him because he is too small to ride.

My Horse's Achievements: He is very smart and learns new things almost instantaneously- .

My Horse's Favorite Treat: Fruit. But I haven't found anything he doesn't like.

My Horse's Favorite Things To Do: Eat, drive, jump, go on walks, and generally do anything to be around people.

He is very sweet and lovable but he is also a stallion and as such his personality is very feisty and fiery and he always likes to test me. As soon as I've established that I'm yet again in charge he's fine. He also likes to nip. I make sure that he knows that I'm the boss and that nipping is absolutely not allowed. But sometimes he can't resist the temptation and he will try.

Whenever he sees me he neighs excitedly and runs over to say hello. He loves company. He likes people to just be around him and he will graze happily. And he will give me a kiss every morning before he gets his hay. He has such a soft nose, it's perfect for kissing! When he is eating I can do anything to him. Food is key and he will do anything for it. He has learned all kinds of tricks this way. He knows how to turn around either specified direction, paw the ground with either specified front hoof, rear and walk on his hind legs, stand on a stump with his front hooves, jump, lie down and roll over like a dog, bow, and all the basis ground manners required of a good horse.

He learns so quickly that he'll know a trick after just three tries or less. And he never forgets anything. Even a year later he'll remember something that happened even though in the interim there were no reminders. He's good with lungeing and he loves to pull his cart and really puts his mind and heart into it. He's like the little engine that could! The only thing so far that has bothered him is water but with persuasion he will go through it. Anyway, he is a lot of work and I absolutely love him and love working with him. And he loves to work too, which is really helpful.

Pet Peeves: Taking baths and large puddles. Oh, and needles. He HATES needles but who likes needles?

My Horse's motto: Eat, run, and be merry.
DOB 18th, April, 2005.

Hi from Celeste
Its been a while! I purchased another miniature mare that may or may not be bred.I have a horse home pregnancy test that I purchased from Australia, but it is really hard trying to collect her urine. This mares name is Buffy, she is older than Lacey, 11 years old and fully trained even though I haven't taken her out under harness yet. I haven't had her long, only a month. I have never driven before so i'm a bit nervous. Lacey is full of high spirits as usual and doing very well. Her training is coming along slow but we are getting there. Looking at all the snow in the pictures I'm guessing CA is Canada. No shortage of snow here in the winter!
Take care and God bless...Celeste

HI
Wow, The last time I was on to blog was in June! Boy have I been busy. Let's see if I can remember everything that's been going on lately.

1st: I've added several new categories for my supervisor duties! I'm now overseeing all of the horse breeds and pasture management areas. I'm going to add all of the Equestrian sports cat's as well.

2nd: I'm hunting a new paying job as my supervisory role is volunteer and I'm not paid for that job. I'm applying at some banks and credit unions near my house. If I have no luck with those places then there are some secretarial positions and paralegal positions open. I would be looking for V.A work, but right now they are only hiring techs and I do not have my boards as of yet.

3rd: I'm going to head back to college to get my Veterinarian Technicians degree and boards. I'm also looking at getting a degree in equine nutrition, might add a basic farriers class to that, and maybe a class for saddle fitting and business management. Not 100% sure what all I want to do yet or how much all of this will cost, but I can take it one step at a time.

4th: My Mema (age 84..Shhh, don't tell her I told you her age. ;D ) Slipped and injured her knee and might have to have it replaced. Nobody is happy about this as see wants to go back to working, she hates being at home with nothing to do.

5th: I completely threw my back out three different times in the past month and a half and have been utterly miserable. I haven't been able to ride at all, I can barely walk, but I am getting better slowly.

6th:I had Shawn's youngest son James for four weeks during the summer. Shawn had to work and I was home anyways with my bad back, so I kept him. It was just like being a nanny again, except he didn't go home at night, LOL. (There was no escape! No escape I tell you! XD)

7th:We lost one of old ferals. Snippy passed away a few weeks ago, leaving us with one much younger cat to care for. I miss Snippy, he was a good old guy.

8th: I'm incredibly tan, I'm typically so pale and pasty white that you could call me translucent! Not any more, LOL. The perks of living in a coastal town I guess, even an equestrians legs will get tanned down here, LOL.

9th: Although I am still on HC, I am now on Horseforum.com and chronicle of the horse forum daily as it's more interactive and I enjoy helping out and answering questions. If any of y'all are on there, feel free to look me up and send a friend request. I'm known as Horseychick87 on both forums. :)

I hope everyone is doing great and hope to hear from you soon. Lots of hugs, love and votes.
~Shannon

The weather is nice, The rain here has dried up. Bugs are crazy, though. Put ant bait around the outside of Sadie's corral and put her nosy, into everything butt, back in. She's a busy one. She got into the other shed and drug out the containers Austin put in there. He took them out of the tack shed to make room to store hay. She watches everything and waits for a chance to plunder. Lots of love and a vote.

this is a difficult time. after making arrangements for the transfer of my brother, he was found to be unresponsive and sent back to the hospital. michael is still struggling with his leg. the knee scooter they gave him can't be used because they wrapped his leg too high so he can't bend his knee! doesn't make any sense! he's supposed to start class this week and luckily was able to change all but one to online courses. on the bright side i rode sing today. also asked the parents of one of my students if they could help me unload some hay today. they said they would also go pick it up so i could use their truck and get more. then they surprised me by paying for nearly half of the 96 bales we picked up! talk about surprised!

FANCY'S PERCEPTIONS:
"Horses first, The rest Later!"

Fancy leaves a vote for you this morning.

Fatima has gone to a home where she will be working with teenagers that are learning to ride. The lady spent an evening with us to evaluate Fatima and this lady saw potential in Fatima. The next day, the lady came back for Fatima. Fatima did not want to go. I called when I thought they arrived home to check on her and Fatima was fine.
I did not have the same feelings of betrayal with Fatima as I felt when I watched Trigger leave. I felt happy Fatima would be getting some attention. I still miss Trigger but I am happy he is really loved by the small children. I have an invitation to visit him. I think I want to go one day during his lessons. I would love to see him with the children.

Have a safe and blessed weekend.

Because of the flooding north of us, the river, close to my house, flooded, Tuesday night. I didn't see the water until I accidentally drove through it. Car's been fine until I drove to work, Friday. After I parked the car and went in, the car caught fire and is totalled. Devastated, heartbroken, but okay. A couple of people think it may have been a short in the wiring. Thank God that Austin was able to pick me up. Car's still in the parking lot at work. Rick won't get home until Wednesday. He's on vacation. Sending love as always and a vote. p.s. No word on the horses that were washed away in the flood.

Spangle's story continued:
A month and a half ago, I loped Spangle again. He didn’t buck! We ended on that good note. Also we have worked with him on loading into the trailer. He now will load easily. If he won’t go in, you just show him a crop and he will be in the trailer in no time.

The farrier was out yesterday to give the horses their trim.

We've had a lot of rain and flooding here in Arizona. We're okay here, but some towns, north of Phoenix, weren't so lucky. New River, Arizona, was hit so hard, pets and horses were washed away. I saw, on the news, that 2 of the horses drowned and women on horseback were searching for the other 2. I haven't heard if they were found, yet. So heartbreaking. Sadie's fine. We've had rain, hard Thursday morning, but no flooding at my house. Sadie's out of her corral, because it's slippery and mucky. To know Sadie, is to know she's happy. She was at the backdoor begging for carrots. Of course, she got some. Hope you're all doing well. Leaving love and a vote.

Everet Shaw, who rode his share of great steer roping horses, told Hyde
that Blue was the best horse at Cheyenne that year. Hyde and Del both felt
that Blue started out of the box quicker and could catch cattle easier than
any horse they had ridden. The combination of Blue's athletic ability and
Del's training made him hard to beat. ~Thanks for voting~ **Copper**

This program
produced the stallion Gooseberry, Crow Creek (Lory's top calf horse), and
many good mares. Hyde and Dede then bought the other half interest in Blue
Valentine from Del. Hyde felt like it was a great privilege to rope steers
on Blue. In 1970 Hyde roped at his last Cheyenne Frontier Days on Blue. ~Thanks for voting~ **Copper**

Hyde inherited from his father the satifaction of riding a good horse he knew he had raised. In the fall of 1956, Ken Gunter gave Del Haverty the pick of the Red Man colts. FANCY'S PERCEPTIONS:
Here is a good night vote for you.

I have had a lot of people interested in Trigger this week. I have not been in the house much. That is why I have not been on the computer.

The events of 8/12/2014:
A kind lady adopted Trigger to help out at her children's riding facility. I am happy and sad at the same time. She led him to her trailer and he tried to get back to me. I felt so bad. I felt like I was betraying him. She led him to the trailer and he looked in and then looked back for me. Wow. He has never paid me any attention. He only loved after my little Cowboy till now. I felt so bad. I told her just ask him to go on, he will. He always tries to do what you ask him. She kindly asked him and he went. She tied him up and the stallion divider was closed. Trigger watched out of the side vents and neighed back to us as I watched him disappear. I turned to go back into the yard and I had to stop and try not to cry. But I cried anyway. I will miss that little guy. The best horse I have ever been around. Well, now he has the chance to help some wonderful children learn to love. I am happy, and still sad.
It has been a hectic week for us.

I have two people interested in Fatima. Hopefully someone will want to adopt her and work with her.

I believe I will be freed up by Thursday and be back online.
Have a blessed day.

We brought our slant load trailer to pick Spangle up. A little excitement on the way, we had a blowout on the trailer! Thankfully we didn’t have Spangle yet. We changed the tire and went and got Spangle. When we arrived, Spangle looked a little chubbier than he did before(He was chubby before too), but that was ok. They said he was a great loader. They were wrong. It took a little while to get him in the trailer, but we did it.
