FANCY'S PERCEPTIONS:

Fancy and Frances are leaving a vote for your beautiful horse today.
Everything that I did with Fancy Wednesday, I dedicated to Joanna's memory.
When Fancy walked to meet me at the gate, I thought about Pixie and Brisco not being able to see their loved friend meet them at the gate again. As I picked out Fancy's hooves all I could think about was Pixie Dust and Brisco. Wondering if they understand the absence of the constant source of love in their life.
As I worked cleaning Fancy's corral, I thought of my granddad telling me once, "The empty wagon cries the loudest." I asked him, "Granddad, what in the world does that mean?" And he explained to me, if I listen, I will hear that a wagon bearing a full load makes very little to no sound. And the wagon that is empty creeks and squeaks loudly. He explained to me how people are like the wagons. Yesterday I thought of Joanna and I felt like the empty wagon. She never once complained, she was always positive, she loved reading of Fancy's adventures.
After reading her memorial posted on Cross Creek Horses page, I suddenly understood why she loved Dancing With the Stars so much.
This young lady had such an awesome spirit! And we never knew how awesome she really was. But Pixie Dust knew this as she visited Joanna during her illness. What a loving and special little horse. God Bless Pixie Dust, she is truly an Angel on Earth.

Haaave a vote from my Fancy filly, this Monday night.
Well, the hay frame is holding up. There is little hay on the ground. I still have to give it a few days before I say Fancy won't demolish it. Fancy is still chasing kittens, but when she catches up with them she is not trying to stomp them anymore. I can't believe the kittens don't run from her anymore. She sniffs them and snorts at them.
I have not seen King this past weekend. My brother does spend time with him and he seems to be enjoying himself with his new King.
I can not believe it will be autumn this month! I only plan to ride more. Do you plan any different horsey related activities due to the change in seasons?

i got some yard work done and rode sing for an hour yesterday. i was really wiped out and didnt finish my blogging. sorry if i missed you yesterday. it's a bit cooler so i did a conditioning ride with sing....working on trotting and cantering for specific time intervals. she did really good. lasted longer than i expected before she began huffing & puffing. Had a nice evening with the girls. I let them out of the corral for some excercise. Sadie ran and kicked and even played a game of keep away with me. She's such a funny character. I put a picture of the road runner on the bottom of Sadie's page from yesterday morning. He was in the corral eating with the the girls. They had alfalfa, and I guess he had bugs. There was another one in the backyard at the same time. And no, he's not a threat to the dogs. They would be to him, tho'. I'm glad they're hanging out here. They're keeping the back yard clear of creepy critters. There was one in the front yard, too. He was zooming around a row of quail. Hugs and a vote. After Austin and I got back Monday from picking up a bale of hay, I opened the gate so I could drive around back. I saw the road runner running from the back of the corral out into the desert behind our property. He must like horses, too. He likes to stay by the hay as if watching them. He's about a foot tall and has a spikey hairdo. He always has access to water. I keep the dogs' pool filled. Pidgeons and other birds enjoy the pool, too. Why he had to try the water trough is beyond me. Road runners eat snakes, lizards, scorpions, rodents and other birds as well. During the winter months, they live on whatever vegetation they can find. And they are fast. Coyotes use to come up the water tank, about 2 acres from my house, when it leaked for a drink of water. I guess road runners get their name from all the running they do. I've seen them run across the highway. The dogs are in their dog house with the ac on when it's enjoying the back yard. Don't know what he'll do when the weather cools down enough not to run the dog's ac. They'll be out of the doghouse then. But since they don't like to stay in the yard, he should be free to stay. Austin said the road runner was hanging out at the dog pool Sunday morning. I guess we're his new family, even tho' he runs like crazy when he sees us. Austin was trying to figure out how it got in the water trough. Since Sadie's tossed things in it before, he was thinking she may have done it. I don't think so. I think he somehow got up on the edge like he does the dog pool and tried to get a drink from a half empty trough and lost his balance. Only Sadie and the road runner know and neither are talking. yes water is a precious thing during this drought!
we're having power outages to conserve energy. it was off from 4-10pm yesterday. it may affect my blogging. my 4 horses in the covered arena normally drink 4-6 buckets of water (20-30 gallons) during the day so yesterday i filled 10 buckets so that i'd be okay if the power goes out. guess what? they drank all of those during the day so i had to refill again at 6pm! i can't put a big trough because buttercup and peach "play" in it and empty the water so i have 10 buckets hanging around the fence. crazy work load! wish i had automatic waterers but i've heard they'll play in those, too, plus if i lost power then they'd be waterless.
today i have the great mare ruffian featured! many of you know her story and they made a movie about her though i've never seen it.Come visit me, Sing & Herd.

Have you ever seen a horse lay and roll too close to the pipe fencing and they get their rear legs stuck in the fence? Fancy did this about 2 times when she was a yearling. One time I had to take the panel lose so she could free herself. That was probably dangerous for me because I had to hold the panel, but I did leave one of the fasteners in. Seeing the scratches on her lower hind legs, it seems she has done this a few days ago. Do they just have to learn not to do this or is anything besides running a string of electric to prevent this from happening. Usually they don't repeat it too many times. Maybe she will be more careful now that she is older and knows again how unpleasant it is.
Thanks to my HC friends for prayers and support during last week. I am finally feeling normal again. After that experience I am ready for the allergy test so I can stay safe. This was a bit upsetting for me because Fancy's doggone coggins just expired and I was about to load Fancy up for her vet appointment to get that coggins updated. Instead, I got a doc appointment and had to use the coggin's money for allergy meds. I had to reschedule her vet appointment! Now I don't know if that coggins will be back in time for us to make the local horse show in our town in September. If we make it, that will be our first show! I will see.
I tied Fancy while I cleaned her courtyard(cause she is the queen. LOL!). Finally, Fancy and I had our time together. Fancy seemed so happy. I didn't ride her or do any lessons. We just hung out in the yard and she ate grass while I groomed her. Just a pleasant quiet time.

happy sunday! friday night was our first high school football game of the season! which means it was my first football game with actually being in the marching band! it was sooo exciting and fun! high schoolers are awesome, i cant wait until next year when i join them up at the high school! unfortunately the Bucks lost 34-0 against the Cloverleaf Colts...they marching banders are very nice though. better luck this upcoming Friday at our first home game against Elyria Catholic. we didnt get home until 11:30pm, and i had to wake up early for yesterday's rodeo...which was very neat! i've never been backstage of the bull riding events, pretty scary! working on homework today...hope you have a good sunday! leaving votes!Come visit me, Lakota-LET ME KNOW OCTOBER HOTM RUNNERS!!!!, RJL Sunny Brooke's Rebecca, Spot & SALE POSSIBILITIES-UPDATE- D-SEE LAST COMMENT BELOW!.
