Mustang from Benson, NC

Chance of a Lifetime

About Me

Active within 2083 Days

I am from Benson, NC and I've been a Club Horse member for 5 years, 8 months and 19 days

Nicknames: He has too many nicknames-I bought him as Chance, then I took to calling him Fella, and he's insanely fat, so from Fella came Fat Fella and Fat man and Fella boy. Pretty much anything you can think of than involves the word Fella.

Age: 16 years old

Gender: Gelding

Breed: Mustang

Height: 14.2

Color: sorrel with a broken star, stripe and snip-his star is in the shape of the letter "C"

Type of Riding: He does everything-I have taught lessons on him, done hunters, jumpers, barrels, poles-I've roped off of him. Funny story-for some reason or another, I got in trouble and my daddy told me I couldn't ride-but he wanted me to get up a bunch of aluminum irrigation pipe that we had used to water the pasture-each peice of pipe being about 20 peices long. So I started picking up each individual peice, one by one. Then I thought, why am I doing this? So I went and caught Fella, saddled him up, grabbed my rope, and looped it around about 7-8 peices of pipe and put the rest of them up that way. What was going to take me all day ended up taking me 30 minutes.

My Horse's Achievements: I'm just proud that he is a mustang and does all that he does. He has done it all-nobody that meets him believes that he is a mustang because of his kind and gentle nature. He is one of the sanest horses anybody could own.

My Horse's Favorite Treat: Oh lord-he eats anything-but he loves chips. If you let him hear a bag crinkle-you're done for.

My Horse's Favorite Things To Do: Let's see...eat. ..eat....and eat. If this horse could never do anything but eat he would be insanely happy.

Pet Peeves: Ummmm...Fella doesn't get agitated very easily...

How We Met

I actually found Fella while riding at my cousin's house. My cousin has horses-well, only one at the time, and I didn't have a trailer, so when we wanted to go riding, we only had one horse. Well, this couple moved in down the street from my cousin, and they had horses. Well, my cousin started hanging out with them, and they told her that if I ever needed a horse to ride, I could ride one of theirs. So I started off riding this older QH mare they had, Penny. But when I saw Chance, and saw that he was a mustang, I really wanted to ride him. Plus, he was so cute and little. So I started riding him every time I went over to my cousin's house. Come Christmas time, Chance's owners had told me they were thinking about selling him, so that obviously got me to thinking of ways I could get him. I only had half of what they were asking for him, so I didn't know what I was going to do. On Christmas morning, we always go to my cousin's house to do Christmas with them, and we (my cousin and I) always go riding after lunch and presents. Well, we went to go get Chance and he had a big red ribbon tied around his neck..
