Type of Riding: Lexi is still training and hasn't had a rider on her back yet. I'm hoping to get her on the trails.

My Horse's Achievements: Lexi is gaining confidence, which is a big deal for her. She is the low-man on the herd totem pole and tends to be shy and withdrawn. Since my husband and I have been working with her, she is more trusting and confident.

My Horse's Favorite Treat: Lexi loves any treat you give her.

My Horse's Favorite Things To Do: Lexi's buddy is her brother TJ. She likes to be anywhere he is and is very curious when he is training. She also likes to be with people. She has spent her life as a yard ornament and loves attention, though she doesn't push for it. She is the horse who comes to "check on me" when I am sad and run to the barn. She drops her head on my shoulder or lips my face, and she walks with me until I'm better. She has walked away from my husband in the middle of a round-pen training session because I was sad.

Pet Peeves: Lexi does not like dogs. She will run at them and quietly investigate when they are outside the pasture, but if they come in, she chases them and will try to kick or stomp them.

How We Met

Lexi and her mother, brother, and sister all belonged to my husband's landlord before we got married. When we were dating, he learned of my love for horses and how I had always wanted one but, being in an Air Force family with eight children, it was never possible. As our relationship progressed, Daniel began to fall in love with horses, too. Then the landlord offered to sell us Lexi and her sister Lady (then ages 3 and 2, respectively) for $100 each. They and their mom and brother had been left by the landlord's daughter, and he had no use for them. Wanting to make my dream come true, Daniel bought Lexi for me. She is my sweet girl..
