Big hi. I hesitated about putting Lightning up for HOTM. I don't know what May will bring. Will keep my faith in God. He can do anything. I prayed about Star's eyes and the one that was clouded over completely is clearing up, and she now has sight in that eye! You can now see her eye. Amazing..... Sent my boots back today. Am using the money for Lightning's Vet appointment. Hope to get him in very soon. Mark's going to take us....Had a nice ride on my pretty Sadie today. What a nice day for a ride! First, I let the gang out of the corral. Then, with a lead rope (dog leash) in hand, I started chasing them yelling GO! They ran and so did I. Worked them good, too. Lightning bows that neck and runs so prissy. Just gorgeous. Then I saddled and bridled Sadie after putting the other 2 up. She was fighting the bit, again. Cowboy Doug, all decked out in his western best, was the first to ride. I knew Sadie would be a good girl and she was amazing and sooo sweaty from our workout. Ran the spit and vinegar out of her. What a smile on his face. Took pictures and posted them on FB and on the bottom of the girls' page. He's such a handsome little fella. I had to share him with all of you. I asked was he ready to get off. He said no that he wanted to ride his horse, so he rode a
while longer. when I took him down out of the saddle, his belt and chaps fell off. Classic ending to a good ride.... I mounted next. She was great. I got her trotting a few times, but she's not good about wanting to...After takng the saddle off, Rick got on her. She took 2 steps and bucked. She was fine as long as he just sat on her. I got her a carrot and had her follow me a few steps. She was okay because the carrot distracted her. ...Getting a second opinion on Lightning. Another hi to everyone. My friend, Jessica, came over and rode Sadie today. She fell in love with her. I told her she was welcome anytime to ride whenever she wanted. Jessica moved here from Indiana the end of 2009 and had to sell her appaloosa, Romeo, and misses him everyday. I put a picture of her riding Sadie on the bottom of Sadie's page..... I rode first. As soon as put my bucket next to Miss Sadie to mount her, she kicked at me and got my wrist. It's okay. Doesn't hurt and no bruise.... My boots came today, too. Way too tight. Hi to all. Had the vet out this morning. Lightning's got a huge hole next to the fast growing tumor. Lot's of infection. That's what was draining out of his nose. Part of the bone in his face is gone. The vet said there's nothing he can do. As long as he's eating good, he can be ridden. When Lightning gets to where he's not eating, it'll be time to put him down. ... No ride. Got Danya's rain. Love, a big hug and a vote. Thundering toward me from the darkness, the massive beast was barreling down on me. My very soul froze as heavy hoofbeats came nearer. Emerging from the darkness, the beast, in a cloud of dust, stopped within feet of me.... Lightning was having his own playday. I'd let him out of the corral and he was loving every minute of it. Why do these times always happen when I don't have the camera and it's too dark to take pictures anyway? The dogs had been with me but disappeared in a hurry. The weather's starting to cool down some. It was hot Thursday when Doug, the farrier, was here. It's a little chilly at 6am, tho'. I talked to Mark Thursday night. He says he's going to ride with me. It'll still be a couple of weeks or so. Needs to cool down a little more. I'm excited about it. I've never seen him ride. I hope his mare will behave. She hasn't been rode in years.... I really like Doug. Picture of him working on Lightning is at the bottom of Lightning's page. He's had horses almost all of his life. He's bought and sold a few and has been a farrier for years. Lightning was so good. He said Lightning isn't club footed. He described the shape of his hooves as ralph? He confirmed what I already know, Lightning has a lazy walk. Star was impatient. She kept stomping her front hoof. Doug checked both Lightning and Stars teeth. He estimated Lightning as 14 and Star as 20. I'll never know for sure. .. He said if Star was experiencing pain with her eyes, she wouldn't eat. She and Lightning have incredible appetites. I call Lightning Piglet. Love and a Saturday vote. Wednesday was busy. I went with Rick to pick up the go kart at a friend's house and then took it back to the shop. It's more of a no go kart than go kart. Stays broke down. Then went to pick up hay. Beautiful horses. There was a mini horse that couldn't have been cuter. An electric fence surrounded a group of horses there. Rick accidentally found out the fence was electric. There was also a stallion about a 4th of a mile from the rest. Several of the horses looked like him, so I figure he had to be their pa. Gorgeous horses. ... Lightning still has the hole in his face. It's closing really slow but closing. I let him out of the corral to spend time with him. Rick drove the pickup pulling the trailer behind it by Lightning. He waited until the trailer started passing him to rear. What a spirit. I love to watch his reactions to different things. The farrier comes this evening. Happy about it, too. Horsey day was nice. I let Lightning and Star out of the corral to let them stretch their legs and run. If Star runs, you get out of the way. The glaucoma seems to have taken her sight away completely. It doesn't stop her, tho'. I wish I could have the surgery, but it's around $1000 and I don't have it. Lightning is such a beautiful, silly guy. He followed me around and kept turning his butt to me to scratch it. I had to stop raking up poo several times. Austin put the Elvis country CD in the cd player, and we played parts of several songs for him. He paid no mind to the music. Austin then put Nirvana on and he loved it! When "Smells Like Teen Spirit" was playing, he went up to the cd player and kept puttin his down listening to it. He listened until the song ended. It was funny. My friend, Mark, has John Denver's "Country Road" on his ringback. When I played it for Lightning, his ears went back and he walked off. Rick has Lynyrd Skynyrd's "Freebird".
