PLEASE VOTE STERL MAY JUNE HOTM
So, now Sterl May is safely at the boarding barn, life is good. I HAVE MY OWN HORSE, I had to tell you all about Sonya because I never would have made it thru the training and frustration without her. It did not take long to see that Sterly knew NOTHING about being ridden, she had had someone on her back a handful of times, but trained she wasn't. She had no bend, no flexibility, she had no idea what aids were, her head was straight up and out, when she was confused which was often, she paced. That was her comfort zone. But, none of that mattered to me, she was mine, we would learn together. As lucky as I was to have Sonya, Sterly was lucky to have Doolie(Sonya's horse) his stall was across the aisle from her. And of course, when I rode, especially at first Sonya was always there. Sterly had this huge crush on Doolie and once in the arena, she would follow him anywhere. I kept Fool Kat for those times when nothing went right and I just wanted to ride and noT really work SO HARD at it. We started lessons with Sonya's coach, in the beginning it wasn't pretty, but like I said, we were both learning together. we would love your support, please
Sterl May was born and raised on a small but successful STANDARDBRED farm not far from my home. Standardbred racing is very big in this part of Ontario. She was quite good at the track, but at 4 years old she got a respiratory virus that ended her racing career. Roxanne, the lady that I eventually bought Sterl's from worked on that farm. Because racing is a business and not a hobby, Sterly had to go. Roxanne remembers the morning she was told to get Sterl May ready for the market truck. Roxanne had known and cared for her for 4 years and could not bear the thought of her going to market, so she bought her on a whim. That night after work she trailered her to a friends house and said "I bought a horse can I keep her here for now" Sterly spent the next 6 years there playing with her two new pasture pals. HI, left a vote. I took my 13 month old grandson Issiac out to see Dusty yesterday. Issiac just loves animals, he always lights up when he sees one, and he giggles too. He just loves Dusty, and Dusty really like Issiac too. Dusty would come over and sniff him from time to time. They will grow up together and be the best of buds. Dusty is so sweet and mellow, I think I finally got it right this time.
Logan was sold and going to his new forever home. They are picking him up today.Come visit me, Toby & Amber.

sorry for the long blog but it's worth the read
hello :)
i had a very busy weekend lol! i had to go to work as soon as i got out of school on friday at 4 to 10:30 pm and it was SLAMMED all night. then saturday i had my last SAT prep class from 8:30 am - 12:30. then i went home for like 15 minutes and then rachael (fynn's owner) came and picked me up and we went up to the catawba equestrian center where he is stabled and got him ready to leave for the House Mountain Show at the virginia horse center in lexington. then we left there at about 3 pm and headed to lexington. once we got there we got him settled in and unpacked, then rachael tacked him up and took him over to the main arena to school him some and get him used to the jumps and then we brought him back to his temporary stall and put him to bed for the night. (i uploaded a bunch of new photos of him and rachael riding him at the horse center and some from him at catawba before we left.) then we came home at about 9 saturday night and she went back up there again sunday to show him. but yesterday i went over to hollins college for their riding open house and man let me tell you....those horses are HUGE!!!! the smallest horse was maybe 16.2 hh. they're all ex-show horses that have been donated to the college. they all make ziggy look like a mini pony haha! i rode this massive white 17.2 hand horse that was like an extremely grown up version of fynn lol! his name was oyster pond but they called him oyster for short. his stride was massive as well haha but im pretty sure he was the slowest horse there! even with all the clucking, kissing, sqeezing, and smacks with the crop, nothing phased this horse. he just plodded along like he was doing his own thing. and then once i FINALLY got him cantering, he only cantered for like 3 strides and then stopped hahah so we called it a day after that but it was alot of fun in the end....even though my legs were burning like no other after all the sqeezing and kicking!
next week ziggy and some of the other horses at my trainers place are moving to another barn that's about the same distance from my house as they are now. so please keep them in your prayers....as you all know how tricky and stressful moving horses can be! haha sorry for the long blog but i hope you had a wonderful weekend :)

Because my oldest son is now on his return trip to Afghanistan, it was real sweet to see Cowboy smile when I showed him his HOTD yesterday. Again, THANKS! Oh, I finally got photos from his visit added to Fancy’s page.
It has certainly been a lovely Carolina day! After church we ate and headed out for the day. I took care of Fancy & Trigger. Since Fancy can not go out I went for a bike ride. Fancy became very upset as she watched us leave. I was afraid she was going to hurt herself trying to get out. She remembers our walks! That made me feel bad to leave her. Since we have more daylight now, Fancy will have her walks soon. We don’t have to ride. I love taking walks with her. But there is no way I can handle Fancy and my bike at the same time.
I look forward to reading about your weekend. Do you have any fresh new horsey plans since the days are longer and the sun is shining stronger?

Thank you everybody for stopping by my new horses page yesterday and making his day so special. He got plenty of treats and lots of lovin'! I am pretty sure we are going to name him Cherokee although I do think Java is a cute name. It is warm and sunny today so Ethan and I took the horses for a ride down the gravel road. I am not completely comfortable with him yet so we only went for about half a mile. We loped on the parts of the road that weren't to sloppy, so much fun! Java/Cherokee behaved really good, just very alert and looking around to check everything out. I also lunged Sierra for a while, she was pretty low key today. Tommorow it is supposed to sleet and rain I won't be able to do much with the horses then. Hope your weekend is great! Thank ya'll so much for Sugar's HOTD!!! I was so surprised when I saw her in the HOTD window!! Not much is going on today. Just relaxing and waiting for time to pass. Being on HC sure helps. Thank ya'll so much for putting up and understanding my horse craziness. :) How are you doing? Have you got any horse time in?
To continue my story of Sugar. I saw the pictures of Sugar and I instantly fell in love with her. A few days later I went to test ride her. She behaved like an angel and was a great mount for my beginner skills. A week or two later Sugar came to her new home. It was a dream come true for me. She stayed in a lil shed by the place we were staying at and I had to lead her everyday to the pasture that she could graze in. I'll put more up tomorrow.

I'd like to congratulate Twilight on winning HOTM. Not much is going on today. I had my school to do. Lovely. I'm getting excited cuz in two weeks I'll be home for a visit and I'll be able to see the horses and donkeys!! How has your first day of March been?
So my story about Sugar and I starts nine and a half years ago. I always wished to have a have a horse of my own. My grandpa promised to get me a horse when my parents were done building the house (that we now live in). Well on in the middle of August my mom and grandma came home after a day of being out and shopping. They had went to see a pony and they showed me the pictures of her. She was the most beautiful thing I had ever seen. I'll have more tomorrow.

We got some more snow today,but no accumulation so it didn't last long. It is suppose to be like that for the next few days. I had a Writing&Grammer test today and I got a 95% which is an A!! Also yesterday I turned in my writing assignment and I got a B on it!! That is really good cuz my writing assignments haven't been the best lately.
