How We Met

As a kid my family was homeless we lived in a car, a tent, and even with strangers. The only thing that kept me going was the thought of one day owning my own horse. I used to imagine my horse running beside the car on those long trips to no where. He was strong and a red in color his mane and tail flowed freely behind him.
Well long story short when I turned 14 my mom was able to buy 7 acres. My mom said that I could have a horse if I got a job and paid for all the supplies to build his pin. So I did just that within 4 months I had everything I needed and built his home. That September we went down to midland to the Mustang Adoption Auction. I looked for my horse which felt like hours. But I didn't see him I was upset. My mom told me to keep looking and so I did. There he was coming out of the back of the herd his red fur and long but tangled mane and tail. He looked week and tired but his eyes showed hope and when he noticed me our eyes connected and we knew we found each other.
I tamed and trained him but not without help my farrier decided it was time to saddle train him So the farrier and my abusive step dad took it upon themselves to tie Blaze to the corner of his pin and throw the saddle at him. All I could was watch and scream but I knew if I intervened I would get the beating. Blaze became afraid of the saddle but would allow me to put it on after a bit of a fight.
Shortly after the abuse on me got worse and i wanted to end my life but Blaze gave me hope. He was my friend when I needed one. I ended up leaving home when I turned 18 and paid my mom $200 to get Blaze from her because that was the only way she was going to allow me to take him. The first family I moved in with wanted to kill Blaze and send him to a dog food factory because he was fearful and I got hurt on him. But now we live with a nice family that took us in an Blaze is over his fears and never has to see a farrier again because I am one. :-D.
