Good Morning!
here is our update from last night: Ok so I got to ride last night:) Navajo and I did some serpentines at a walk and trot! We did a little of cantering but at the very end. After we did some serpentines I got him to move his front end and do backing and halting! He did everything immediately of which I was so happy and proud of him! I wanted to see if I could get him to move his hindquarters when I was on him and HE DID IT!!!!!! I was so proud of him and I got him to do it like 2 times on each side! I was so proud of him. As soon as he figured out how to move his hindquarters we headed home after I let him stand there to give him a break for figuring out what I wanted him to do! When we got back I groomed him and spent time with him.
Don't know if we will take pics today or get to ride because it is raining this morning and don't look like it is going to clear off. If not then we will have to take pictures and ride another day! ttyl and have a great day. ruth ann n navajo

We also love your mare SELCI! She is lovely! And TOBI is so handsome, of course I am a little one sided sometimes because I adore paints!
A vote for you and thank you for getting me past 4700 ! Wow what a lot of work, huh? Mom visited her friend who rescues SHIRE horses and also some donkeys! She has 14 Shire horses, 5 donkeys, 3 dogs, 3 cats and ..well I lost count of the other critters! Well because of the rescue mission she never has time to ride and Shires are not known for their love of moving too fast but for their beauty and they are ALL BEAUTIFUL!

Yes, it was my birthday
It's after midnight here so it's not my birthday anymore. It was a real good birthday, though. I went for a great ride with my hubby today, which was all I really wanted for my birthday, but I also got some money and a real nice Austrailian drover oil skin coat. The money I'm going to put toward some cavalletti poles and risers for low jumps for me and Fancers, since she liked it so much. I thought it was fun too.

Well, it's been a long but good day. Good night my super heros!

yes i try to ride him that way every once in a while. it helps to remind me and him both to rely on the leg and rein cues:)

here is what i have been up to today: i spent some time with little carolyn (my week old cousin) and got to hold her. she is just the sweetest little baby ever (but i think all babys are sweet!). so sorry that i haven't been on here but was so excited to have my cousins here! then today we went over to their house and we cleaned the kitchen and folded some wash then made dinner! it was fun. got to spend some quality time with my one cousin and we are closer than before!!

how was your day? how was the weather and did you get to ride? it rained all day here and is windy. very chilly. drank some cappuchino (sp?) and had chicken pie for dinner. no riding either:( ttyl ruth ann n navajo

Vote 74 from Petite Fleur for TOBI
Hi Jenna & Tobi! Thanks for your vote & blog! Yeah I know aboit the prices in your part of California! BUT, one thing is I buy all my different worm pastes and sand clear & other products at half price (even less with the Euro being strong on the dollar!)! Sometimes 33% less! The worm pastes weigh nothing so I bring back Strongid, Equimax and ivermectin (apple flavored) for my neighbors here! You should come to our part of France some day! Go hang out in Paris, take the TGV from la Gare de Lyon to Valence TGV (2 hours non stop and relaxing!) and you are 30 minutes from us in the country by the Vercors chain which is the beginning of the alpes! Well anyone can find us now, he he!

I can see what you mean about working from home. I know how you start to do one chore like scub the tub, that took 10 mins, then you're just going to do this next little chore there goes another 10 mins then on and on until an hours gone by.

Yeah I do live in the country. My drive to work is 45 mins. but I've always lived in the country and I probably always will. I do have lots of neighbors with horses although some of them never ride them. You don't have the awful winters there do you? I doubt it if the town name that you live in means hot in Spanish! I dread winter. I ride as much as I can in it though.

Well, it's 12:20am and my eyelids are getting pretty heavy so I'm gonna sign of for now. I leave a vote for Tobi tomorrow. Good night.

thanks from peek and susan
i rode peach and sing yesterday. worked on a large 25M circle over a ground pole at 6 and 12 o'clock. had magan to help me sack out peekaboo with the scary bags of cans and i added gallon milk jugs with rocks in them thrown over her back like "saddlebags". she did good at halt but when we began walking around she bolted and got away. spooked herself bigtime and got tangled in the long lines i was "driving" her with. we got that under control finally, then i was able to walk her around with the jugs rattling before we ended the session. got to run and unload more hay! ttyl.

Man, that is so wierd that you said that about us forming our own town, because I was just thinkin' along those lines yesterday! Wouldn't that be great? I don't have any human children either. I have two stepsons but they are grown up and living on their own and when they were young they lived with their mother. So, my 4 cats, my dog Gypsy and our two horses are our "kids". I did have a nice holiday weekend. I wasn't able to ride yesterday because by the time we got our chores done and went to pick up some hay and brought it home and put it in the barn the rain started and it's still raining this morning. So, I'm just going to do housework (Yuck) and go out and groom Fancy and just spend sometime with her in the barn out of the rain. Although, Fancy likes the rain and like Tobi likes to play in the water. I went to a yard sale this summer and bought an out clawfoot tub to use for a water trough. Well, I filled it up and Fancy tried to crawl into it! Now, it's a hay feeder because I'm afraid she'll hurt herself if I fill it with water. She's so funny! I have left a vote for Tobi and thanks for stopping in to see us.

Good Morning!
sorry this is quick but i need to run but here is a ride update:) I rode Navajo just with reins and his halter. He did very good. We worked on circles a lot because he wasn't paying attention but we perfected the circle with just my leg and rein. We are getting better:) Then I got off of him and got him to lower his head and also got him to move his head as far to each side as He could. Did so well! I had a great Labor Day and I hope the rest of you do to;) Have a good evening and great rest of the week

Hay! The prices are crazy in California for animal care! I live in Rhône Valley wine country (like Caliente is a part of Calif. wine country, no?) with a lot of farms so we know many who became friends and when our one farmer mows down Petite Fleur's big pasture for hay he gives us 20 bales for free! The mountain hay (the sweetest is given to us for almost nothing because my husband takes the guy and his family on plane rides! Thanks for voting and here is one right back! You guys sound like my kind of horse & rider, he he!

thanks for the blog on peek's page. i'm keeping busy. i sacked out peekaboo with scary plastic bags filled with cans and put broomsticks along her sides like the pvc pipe. she did good. got 20 bales of hay unloaded. rode buttercup around bareback at walk only. practiced closing the gate and side pass. had a long skype call with my son, michael, who's in baghdad in the army. put a recent pic of brandy on peek's page cause someone wanted to see her. hope you enjoy the long holiday week end!

Happy Labor Day Jenna & TOBI from PF
Vote 62 for Tobi! I only helped unload with a wheel barrow and they are the rectangle bales, not the huge round ones! AND for 40 bales of mountain fresh hay the young man only asked for 20 Euros which is about less than 80 cents USD each bale including delivery and stacking! It was the posting of the pasture again that was tiresome but today is a relaxation day with beautiful weather again! Hope yours is the same! Do you have a photo of your barn cat? My kitty's name is Sunny and he is an indoor and outdoor cat! Happy trails from Paula & Petite Fleur

I forgot to answer you question! My husband's horse is a Connemara Pony! (although he's 15.2) There is Arab in the Connnemara bloodline but his Arabian ancestors our quite visable. In fact, my husband has a profile for him here on HC. Look him up under his registered name, Ganymede of Skyview, if you want to. My husband doesn't blog much but he does once in a while! He likes to do the puzzles, and the games! It's nice to talk to a friend. Thanks for stopping by again.

It is nice and green here. Soon the leaves will be beautiful colors. They're already changing! Ah, time marches on. I'll take some more pictures when there all ablaze so I can share their beauty with you. I'm very philosophical today and a little sad too. Peekaboo's momma, had to say goodbye to her much loved dog yesterday. Maybe you could say a little prayer and send her some love? Thanks

Hi TOBI! Hope your holiday week-end is going well over there! Mom is a little perturbed cause her hay delivery never showed today so I missed my ride on PF ! What a waste! So tomorrow morning he will be here and I will spend Sunday morning stacking hay bales! Guess I will lunge PF all saddled and then ride in the pasture. She is in heat so the both of us may need some motivation! Here is a Saturday vote from PF and mom P. WISH ME LUCK I HAVE A STRONG BACK AFTER PLACING HAY!

sad news
i took my 12 yr old shep mix, brandy, to be put to sleep yesterday. this past year she's been declining. arthritic joints left her with only 2 good legs. she had to stop coming upstairs to bed with us. i made her a nice doggie bed neath the table where she liked to sleep but she insisted on sleeping at the bottom of the stair where she'd be closest to us. i miss her tail drumming out a beat against the floor or wall as i'd walk by. she didn't ask for much and was so grateful for a kindness expressed toward her. like all dogs are. i miss her terribly this day 1 in a world without brandy. she was so good around the horses and always stayed out of their way, unlike reese who wants to "herd" them! she did love to chase a car though!
