Big hi to all. Jessica came out Wednesday with her boyfriend, David. Sadie was bad. While Jessica picked her hooves, Sadie yanked her back hoof away. She bucked a couple of times, too, when Jessica rode her. She did okay with me. The strap on the saddle pinched a bruise on the inside of my left knee. Shouldn't have worn shorts. Found the missing fly mask, too. Jessica and I dumped Sadie's water trough to clean it out, and there it was. It had sunk to the bottom of the trough. I didn't think to check there. Thank you so much for stopping by to congratulate Eddie on winning horse of the day. I didn't even know he was eligible again so it was a complete surprise. I saw him on Monday and I'll see him again on Friday. I get to ride twice this week. Yay!
I've been a bit neglectful of my blogging. Last week we had a number of powercuts due to stormy weather and after my computer shut off immediately the first time I discovered that my backup battery is dead. My e-mail programme was completely screwed up and I discovered that I had almost 5000 messages to go through and resort. Some were in duplicate, some in triplicate, and some missing and moved to different folders. Can you imagine the mess? I finally got through it all but I had e-mail coming out my ears!
And since then we've had quite a few powercuts and internet accesss has not been at all reliable.
On Thursday evening I went to ride Prince and my sister came to ride Eddie. Well, there was a strange horse there. She's a grey percheron mare named Jewel. She's very pretty and friendly only she can't stand Prince. She's never been ridden before. She was broken to drive but has been a pasture ornament for the past 7 years. So, she's a bit green. Yep, grey and green.
I rode her to see how she'd take it. She was pretty good but had no idea what legs meant. Prince was terrified of her and started to misbehave. So, Jewel got antsy and kept prancing and breaking into a trot. As soon as she did she felt me on her back and would turn around and look at me like, "What on earth are you doing back there? And who are you anyway?" So, I just rode her around the perimeter of the field, a little less than a mile, and then rode Prince. It was pretty good for a first ride and we ended on a positive note. I rode her again on Monday and she was already better. My sister rode a bit too.
She also is not bothered by Melian which was good. So, Melian ran in the field like usual and thoroughly enjoyed herself.
I finally got a chance on Sunday to make the video of Pippin running with the big horses. I'm pleased how it turned out and would love if you'd take a look at it. I think you might enjoy it. It's called, Dances with Horses and is on YouTube and HC. My username on YouTube is PringlePoirot.

We are racking right along with Tuesday votes for friends:) Monday started wet and ended wet, but in between all that Fancy and I had a pretty good day. I groomed Fancy and hand walked her around the neighborhood after lunch time and we just had fun. It was soo cool. This cool weather is making my elbows ache, can't wait for the warm weather to return:)

Fancy floating by with a vote on a soggy day;) Fancy is getting a few days break now from training. When we start over we can start fresh and better. Our last session was aweful because I didn't follow through with pre-ride ground work. Fancy was not concentrating on listening and she was heavy and kept drifting to the outside. I didn't do the pre-ride because my husband willing to record us and he says hurry up;( I won't hurrry any more because it messes up our hard work. And our session was recorded but it was aweful;( I loaded it on my flickr account if you want to see it. If you view the video, keep in mind that is not how she behaves when we do this calmly and with pre-ride groundwork. But if you have any suggestions please let me know. One friend has suggested I lift my stirrups:)
