Finally getting by with a July 1st vote & a Happy 4th of July weekend wish for you!
My son rode his new saddle for the first time today and Fancy was not doing her best to listen to him. He became a bit discouraged with her. I told him to give her another chance. I think she did not cotten to the blanket that I used today. I will use a different pad or blanket next time and I think she will do much better. I didn't want to use his new pad before Fancy gets a full bath. Fancy and family are here with a Mid-Week vote for you.
We found a new saddle for my little man yesterday. We found out the store takes trade ins on saddles. When we got home, I began to clean my husbands saddle up for a trade. It was pretty clean, just a little dusty. My son came to help. He told me in his most serious voice, "If it is nice and clean, we can get a good price for it." Boy, I thought, he must listen to me more than I ever thought. He also decided to trade his saddle in on it too. I wanted to keep his little saddle with the silver horn and wooden stirrups, it is just so cute and holds so many memories. I thought about it for a while and asked him to be sure that is what he wants to do. With both saddles, hopefully he can get a new pad too.
Also had one long storm yesterday evening. Hi, my name is Pippin and I am running for horse of the month in January. I am a cute but feisty miniature stallion and at 31" tall and 200lbs, I can literally pull my own weight! I love going out with my humans and my favourite activities (after eating, of course!) are driving and jumping. But… really I'm game for anything asked of me. Nothing much scares me and I LOVE new and exciting adventures.
Do I have any faults? If you ask me, of course not! I'm perfect! If you ask mama? Well, she doesn't like me nipping her (oh, but it's so tempting!) and she wishes I were better with water. I'm not too keen on baths or puddles.
Next month I will have been on the Horse Channel for 4 years and I'm the oldest active member. I would greatly appreciate your daily votes and support for me all next month. I plan to educate all my fans on the wonders of minis and I hope to highlight one of my movies each day.

Hello,
Well it going to be a hot Saturday today in Ohio. It is only 9:03 AM and it's already 75 degrees. And our AC broke and it flooded our basement. So we have to go to my Aunts house and spend the night there, because it got up to 90 in our log house.
I was planing to ride but I don't think I am now because it is so hot. I might just get one Libby out to brush her.
My birthday is the 31st, so I am getting really excited. I will Finally be 13. I wanted to go to a horse show but there was one 3 hours away and I didn't want to ride in the car that long. I should just stay home and clean out the stalls (lol) Well I would be with the horses.
Here's a vote to get your closer towards your goal. Please vote for Libby. I am trying to have people vote a lot for her until Sunday. Then I will be trying to get Pepper HOTD. Beauty, Is going for HOTM, but I would love for you to VOTE FOR LIBBY RIGHT NOW.

A little more on the mules:)
Hearing: As might be expected from the size of their ears, mules can hear quite well. Their ears swivel freely and are capable of capturing and processing sound independtly of one another or in unison.
Touch: Equine of all sorts communtcate through touch. Jennies, and mares nuzzle their babies, mules and donkeys drape their heads across one another to reassure or show affection; that's why they rest their heads on their favorite human's shoulders. Betsy does this with my Daughter and I:)

SIGHT... Bony "eyebrows" protect the mules eyes that are high and toward the sides of their heads. They can see quite well to both sides and reasonably well to the front and rear, especially when their heads are lowered. However, long ears have a narrow 10 degree blind spot directly behind and in front of their bodies when faceing forward, so they see poorly to the front and rear when their heads are raised-all humans should keep this in mind when working around donkeys and mules. By turning, raising or lowering heads, long ears can see more clearly and hone in on specific objects. They have both monocular and binocular vision, meaning their eyes can work together to focus on a single object or independantly to view two things at one time. Like humans, they can instantly change their focus from distant objects to happenings near by. Their sight is motion oriented, so they quickly decern moving objects, even at a great distance.
