New Home for the New Year We are getting ready to move at the end of December. Noir will become a big boy with a big boy stall. He will be living at the same barn as his dam, sire, and older half-brother. I'm looking forward to being able to see him regularly instead of once a week. It will be exciting since he has not trailer since he was 8 months old and he had his mamma as a travel partner. Moving day will be a big day. He will have to say bye to his pasture mates, load in a trailer, and travel to a new barn, with new smells, and a 12x12 stall. It will definitely be an interesting day. At 20 months he will have to be a big boy, and prove that he is still very accommodating and adaptable. I know it is a big order but I think he is up to the challenge. Well, Merry Christmas and Happy New Year!Come visit me, FireTuck, Firefly, Papillon Noir & Elizabeth.

They grow so fast My boy is growing so fast. He is now over 14hh and climbing. He is growing out of his halter again, and this current one is a small horse halter. So, in a couple of weeks he should be wearing a medium horse halter. I have mentioned he is only a yearling. Only 16 months old. But he is still my baby. He is so beautiful. I'll be adding pictures once I get the new ones developed.Come visit me, FireTuck, Firefly, Papillon Noir & Elizabeth.

All grown up! I am so proud of my boy. He is now living in the big boy pasture with two other stallions. He is holding his own and trying to fight his way to the top. Actually, he is fighting the way to the top, he has the scars to prove it. He is challenging the larger older stallion for control of their little herd. He has already put the other stallion in his place. This little Paso Fino stallion was a bully and tried to bully my boy on the first day, but according to the trainer, my boy clocked him and the Paso has not been a bully since. He is very humble around my boy. It helps too that my boy is already 14hh and is very "butt" high at the moment, which makes him taller and larger than the Paso. I am a very proud momma, but I wish he'd quit his fighting. Luckily the scars are superficial and should disappear with time.Come visit me, FireTuck, Firefly, Papillon Noir & Elizabeth.

Hooves Update! Thanks for all the suggestions. I worked with Noir today, touching his legs and feet with a dressage whip (don't worry, just touching lightly and rubbing - think of it as an extended hand out of harms way). Then while he was distractedly grazing on some grass I tried his feet. First time ever, I was able to clean both front hooves, hoof pick and all, and the right back. It was a great day. Now, I'll just have to do it again next week with the same great results. Thanks again for the suggestions.Come visit me, FireTuck, Firefly, Papillon Noir & Elizabeth.

Feet It's too bad you can't work with him everyday. It would be easier. But I think that once a week will work too. It will just be a little slower. Good luck with him.Come visit me, Prince (Rest in peace sweet Tiny girl.), Pippin (Tiny is forever in our hearts) & Eddie (Our BIG boy!).

Cute Baby For training your colt. Try giving him some grain while you mess with his feet. It'll take his mind off what your doing then gradually give him less and less every time. Handle him every day so he gets used to it. Give him lots of kudos when he behaves. And when you handle his feet don't show any apprehention just act as though its no big deal and he should to.Come visit me, Windy Journey, Turnip, Roylimas Fire Ghem & Painted Thunder Bar.

So cute! He is adorable. I bet he will be black. For the foot problem I would suggest touching each hoof everyday and then progressing from there. Maybe give him a treat after each time.Come visit me, Prince (Rest in peace sweet Tiny girl.), Pippin (Tiny is forever in our hearts) & Eddie (Our BIG boy!).

Colt I don't have any suggestions on training a colt. I've only had experience with older horses, since I've only been riding two years, and don't yet have a horse of my own (although I'll be getting one in a few months). I've always wanted to train a baby, and maybe I will some day. Come visit me and blog! Tonka Toy.Bonnie, Jupiter, FL.
